So the foundry will be down for some time... what to do!

Well, how 'bout some music? Here are a couple of soundtracks I love to listen to as I build my missions (I think the guy behind them is wickedly good, even if they are remixes).

    How about an armored Argo?

I think that would be more sensible to have. At the very least, you would not be in danger of tripping...

Bipeds look cool, but always give your battlemechs 4 legs or more its just common sense if you want it to stay standing up

But then what am i expecting common sense from starfleet for? They build computer interfaces that can kill you by accident

Here's how I was passing some of the time last night, in between runs of Dust to Dust and watching the latest episode of Arrow.

The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I'll never be as good as a wall.
You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don't want to eat the fish, they just want to make it late for something.

Bipedal mechas make sense if it's basically an armored suit(like Iron Man). But... if it's a piloted craft...

Actually... in anime the mech usually has some sort of jet thrusters that can be used to keep it from falling over.... or in many cases float in midair....

But yeah... Starfleet would use shuttle craft (or hover tanks) instead of mechas....

Interplay had an underrated Star Trek hover-tank RTS game called New Worlds that I was addicted to back in the day. (RTS was my go-to genre of games pre-STO.)

As for legged mechs, you also have to have some kind of defense against, say, the odd snub-fighter equipped with a towing cable... ;)

Meh you just need a better control interface that is capable of realizing the movement is impeded. :P

Sorry, tracked tanks trump hover tanks and mecha. Smaller target cross-section, lower center-of-gravity, less maintenance-intensive, you can't trip them, and you don't need a crane to lift it off the ground if enemy fire knocks out the legs/antigrav coils.

yeah, but.... unlike hover tanks.... tracked vehicles can't fly over obstacles. :P

You're right, they pretty much go through obstacles. :D
