What's the point?

I'm finding it hard to justify wasting any more time in this game. Server maintenance that lasts twice as long as intended, advanced STF's that are ten times harder than their old Elite versions and are usually broken (just spent 45 minutes doing Advanced Undine Assault only to be told it failed at the end). Is there a point to playing this game anymore, or does Cryptic and Perfect World just see us as idiots they hope will continue paying for garbage?

point is, maybe the game should not be so easy, but actually offer some challenges? I applaud this idea, even if the implementation is lacking.

one hour does not = 4 hours. To be twice as long, the maintenance would have to go until much later than the current estimate.

advanced sfts are becoming quite routine again, tried one lately? They generally succeed more often than not now that ppl have relearned what to do and adjusted to the DR changes.

Undine is a tricky STF. A lot of people kill the planet killer without completing the goals. What goals? Read the red text on why it failed, but most often, people did not close the class-specific randomly placed anomalies before attacking the PK. That fails you. Every time. All you have to do is read the directions and do a simple task. Cryptic, assuming you were NOT an idiot, probably thought this would be within the capability of players --- they grossly overestimated us, actually.

Some goals like rescuing a gekli which isn't spawning because the stf is bugged?

If you think everything is just fine in STO, go ahead and keep playing, but I'm taking my cash to a game that actually wants me to play it.

Did you really ask if I've tried an Advanced STF, even though my post clearly says I did at least one?

I don't mind the challenge, I mind the continually broken and bugged parts of the game. When was the last time you went to the Defera Invasion Zone? Opened nearly three years ago, still a treasure trove of bugs and TRIBBLE. There is no mention of the class specific random anomalies being a requirement on Advanced, they're required on Elite, but there is no mention in the mission box about them being required. At Advanced, there is only one optional objective in that box, beating it in 20 minutes. So failing an optional objective means failing the entire mission? Then why not kill it at 20 minutes, why even allow players to spend another 20 minutes in there if there will be no reward given? The only red text at the end of the mission is the 'Failed' part, no explanation given as to what went wrong or how it could have been done correctly. Did you ask me if I've tried one, because you know you haven't?

I must have forgotten to mention the acidic, hateful community that plays this game, but thanks for leaving your comment proving that point correct.

Go ahead and keep playing STO as if there were no problems at all. I'm moving to a game that listens to their players and can release fixes for problems in the game before they release another desperate cash grab feature. How many lock boxes have been released since Defera was released, and how many fixes for Defera have been implemented during that time? Rhetorical question, you don't need to answer it.

Goodbye, Star Trek Online, wish I could say it was fun.
