Looking for advice

Thank you in advance for your help on this!!:)

Every so Often my game CTD when I try to change maps

It happens on two different toons (fed 56 and Rom 60)

Usually happens when I try to transition out of ESD to Sector space on my Fed.

I have not found a correlation. No warning, no server connect message and no followup crash report.

I have no problem starting up again and playing. I do get the repair message. I have run the repair, but it didn't seem to fix the problem

Win 8 U1 fully security patched, 12 gb memory, quad intel i7, Nvidia GTX 760
I have Version 344.11 of the Video Driver (ver 347.09 is available.)

I run my Video at absolute max settings, windowed at 1920x1200. I have dual screens

I am using avast Anti-virus

I have not uninstalled the client and tried a reinstall, nor have I done a bug trace to see if I can find out more about the issue, and I could upgrade the video driver, but it hasn't changed in a while. Before I start tearing down the system to find the cause...
Has anyone found a cause, work around or fix for this issue?

I do get a generic Application log entry

I had similar issues a couple years ago. Took me months of searching for solutions until I ran across a post about bad RAM sticks corrupting games. It wouldn't happen all the time, just whenever a game would access the corrupted section of a bad stick.

    http://www.memtest86.com/

Test your RAM. It's time consuming, took me about 45 minutes to test 16 GB, but it's still quicker than downloading and reinstalling. And I haven't had a CTD issue since replacing the bad stick.

I encountered the same error with ntdll.dll starting on December 10, i.e. when the winter event was deployed.
In my specific case, that doesn't affect gameplay, because the fault occurs only when I exit the game.

I run the game on a laptop Dell Latitude E5430 with Intel graphics chipset and Windows 7.
The game has been installed on this machine for about 2 years without any major issue.
Nothing was changed on the PC configuration, except monthly Windows and antivirus updates.

I suppose that GameClient.exe is recompiled whenever a major patch/event/expansion is deployed and that could introduce bugs about the allocation of memory and other resources. I remember a similar error occurring in August with another DLL library reported in the error log.

    Greetings,
    Adm. Lurak

Try setting video memory to 1024+ doesn't matter if your card has it, it will be allocated as virtual memory.

This is NOT a hardware issue! This is a networking issue!

Something goes wrong on the packets path between your ISP and the game servers.

There are LOTS of people having this problem! (including me)

Neither reinstalling the game nor checking your hardware will solve this one!

It's Cryptics/PWEs part to solve this one!

Could you explain in more detail how an internet routing issue causes a local application to crash due to a local dll file? Shouldn't it just lose connection, create a short lag or anything the like? I think it should....

"I tried nothing so far, who has the solution?"

alonys advice is a good one, at least partially. Download Memtest86+ and let it run over night. A single pass without errors doesn't mean much.

It has to be a networking issue because I used to have the crashes until I set the gameplay-proxy (launcher settings) from 'none' to 'EU' (living in EU).... not a single crash since then :)

My first intention when I read 'ntfs.dll' was that the error occurs due to a faulty file.... but no... its really networking stuff.

If you read other topics about the crashes here you can even find some pathpings/tracerts with huge ping-times and packet losses in them.

But hey.. this CAN'T be a permanent solution!

    Hmm...I'll try that proxy thing.

I don't think packet routing could crash the game, but it's entirely plausible using the proxy may avoid some bugged line of code somewhere.

sometimes antivirus tools or personal firewalls have aditionals funktionalities to link themsels up a internetconnection (i have ssen this with my AVG AntiVirus)
if the "Identity protection" is activated the game constantly crashes..

to mee this loosk like a the AVG is trying to protect me by killting the sign-on-token (SO) from the login. I wonder what authetication mecanism Starterk Online uses to conflict with privacy/identity-protection tools ...
