Crashes upon entering Fullscreen

STO tends to freak out every time I switch from Windowed Borderless to Fullscreen. Inconvenient because every time I swap out of Fullscreen to desktop, the game acts as if it's in Windowed Mode, yet the size of a Fullscreen, which means it's harder to click on things.

My monitor is 3840x2160 (4K), I use a GeForce GTX 860M, Window 8.1.

    Mines crashing everytime I try to switch from Windowed Maximized to full screen as well. Brand new laptop 1080p screen running Windows 8.1 latest drivers, NVidia gtx 970m.
