Graphics options wont save

Bought a new pc a few days ago....

New STO install of course under windows 8.1 every time I exit the game or make changes to the graphics options whether it be advanced or display they instantly revert back or revert back after I re-run the game.

Have the game set as run as administrator and hasn't helped.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I have the same type of problem with changing the Audio output device from the primary playback which my TV is connected to the soundcard that my surround sound headset is connected keeps resetting at the restart of the game.

Microsoft seems to think STO is not compatible with 8.1

I've tried to resolve this on my own to no avail.
No reply to this thread or the other one quite similar to this one by someone else.
Creating a support ticket seems to be broken or at least not working for me.

I guess I'll try an uninstall and reinstall...if that doesn't work another uninstall without reinstall.
