VOTING IS NOW CLOSED. MAKE SURE TO TRY OUT THE MISSIONS BELOW AND CAST YOUR VOTE IN THE THREAD LINKED HERE!
Hello and welcome to our latest Foundry Challenge! This month we begin what will surely be known as a challenge-ette, as this will be under a tighter schedule then any Foundry Challenge before.
This challenge-ette will last 4 weeks for production, with a 2 week period for the community to play through all of the missions and cast one [1] official vote for a winner.
At the end of the 2 weeks of playthrough and voting, a winner, based on a simple majority of votes, will be announced and awarded 1500 STO Promo Points to spend in the C-Store (enough to also purchase additional Foundry slots through the Dilithium exchange, if the winner chooses).
The winner of this challenge will also be given the distinction of holding our next spot as the Foundry Spotlight mission for whichever faction it is based on. Fed or KDF.
Now some of you may ask why we are only going to run this contest for 4 weeks. As many of you know, the last Foundry challenge ran far to long, due in part to downtime for the foundry, and so I will be cutting the production time down for future challenges to avoid the potential for this to impede working on this contest. We will test this 4 week period to see how everyone fairs, but for this particular challenge, I have cut it to 4 weeks for another, simpler reason.

The theme for this challenge is very time sensitive, and we must be finished on time to ensure that it ties in with our other current contests and events. Therefore, let me get to the theme.

Today we start the four-week run of the tenth Foundry Challenge:
New Years Eve, 2409.
For this Foundry Challenge, create a mission that's main story plot revolves around the passing of our first official New Years Eve in STO since launch. The year has changed over, from 2409 to 2410, and with our own real life New Years Eve fast approaching, we can take the time to tell the tale of what happened across the quadrants to your crews, to crews past, and to crews of the future, on this special night. It is a night known for new resolutions, making new friends and rejoining old friends long missed. Did your crew host a party aboard ship? Did they attend one on a colony world or space station? Maybe the mission told was one of a tragic accident that transported players into some other time unknown. These stories can be told from many perspectives. Perhaps from that of a young Human cadet who is counting down the hours to their first mission. Or a seasoned Klingon warrior, ready to face the battles ahead, while still honoring the sacrifices of those who have been lost along the journey. Maybe an cold and bitter Vulcan is visited by spirits of the past who try to warn him of his impending fate. Take the potential player along for the ride as you tell a story about the passage of time in STO, and what it means to your captains and their crews. The sky is the limit when it comes to Foundry creation, and I know we have many talented authors who can spin tales into foundry gold. Show us what you can do on a tight deadline, much as the world of game makers are tied to, and touch our hearts with the stories of the first ever New Years celebration in Star Trek Online.
Please make sure to adhere to the Foundry EULA and the rules below.
As this mission will be tied to this worldwide holiday, I'd like the playthrough and voting period to coincide with the holiday itself. It will be a perfect time for many who will be off of work or school and should have time to play your mission on either of the days off normally attributed to this holiday, and/or the two weeks afterwards. This can also be a great way to wish your fellow players a happy new year, and share in the spirit of the holiday.

Mission Summary:
NOTE: Please do not publish your mission until the morning of 12/31***.
NOTE: Please reply to this thread with the information listed above in
yellow, completely filled out, to be considered for the running. This will need to be submitted here by 12/31 End of Day at the latest. Don't forget your mission must be published in-game at that time to be considered -- unfortunately, any mission that cannot be found in-game by the time the voting starts will be removed from this entry thread.

VOTING THREAD = Votes will be placed in the discussion thread here.
This thread will remain locked until the production time has ended and the submission period has begun after 12/31/2014. This is the author's thread -- only entries should be made here.
The Discussion Thread can be found
HERE and is open for you to talk to other authors about this challenge, and your ideas/thoughts about your entries, and the entries of other UGC authors.
We also have an Index of previous challenges
HERE.

IMPORTANT: The rules may change from one challenge to another, but I'd like to let everyone know what the base rules are. These may grow as we move on (and have since the 1st challenge), so feel free to give feedback in the discussion thread about what should be added!
- Each Challenge will run for 6 weeks. For 4 weeks we will sticky the challenge and let you make your entry. After the 4th week, the 5th through 6th week will be the time when the mission is published and reviewed by the community for voting.
- There is no right or wrong entry.
- The background story should be the main foundation for your mission. You will put the player into the main role.
- The missions for these challenges must be in English. Please check out the French and German forums using the flag drop down above to see their Foundry contests.
- In the spirit of the competition, only maps, missions, stories, dialogue etc. created/ built/ designed during the 4-week creation period should be used.
- The mission should take only 30 minutes for a player to complete, but MUST not take more than 45 minutes. Error on the side of 30 minutes. This is to allow players to be able to play through all of the missions so they can consider all when voting.
- In your mission description, opening dialogue, and the last dialogue, please include orange "out-of-character" text that explains that your mission is part of the STO Forums' Foundry Challenge #10 -- do not include a link to this post, but let the player know they can visit the "The Foundry for Star Trek Online" section of the forums for more information.
- Please keep discussion about the entries in the appropriate Discussion Thread.
- In the Discussion Thread, feel free to write what inspired you and what your thoughts on the topic are.
- Once the mission is published, it should not be withdrawn, even temporarily. The only exception to this would be if for some reason players are saying they can't complete it and you need to fix something so they can. If you find spelling mistakes, feel free to fix them only after the competition ends.
- Regarding Voting:
- Once you have played through all of the missions during the Playthrough Period, please place your vote in a reply in the voting thread (to be published at a later date).
- Any votes posted before the end of the productions timeframe will be removed.
- Reviewers can write reviews of some of the other missions if they wish.
- A few other important reminders:
- Please heed the Foundry's EULA when submitting your entry! This applies to any mission made in the foundry. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
- Each author may only have one entry, no matter how many accounts they have.
- After four weeks' time, the thread will be unstickied as we move on to the next challenge.
- We'll have three threads: One to post the entries in (this), one to discuss the entries and one with the official entries list for voting.
Cross-linking between these threads is acceptable for these challenges ONLY!!
***If you are unable to push the "publish" button at this time due to timezones/ work schedules, please wait until the latest possible moment before this day/time. Also, if you need to publish your mission to test things, that is fine too, but please make sure to unpublish after testing is complete.
Comments
Production Phase will also be extended until we get things fixed, so right now I will extend it to at least Monday. If the Foundry is still not back up by then, I will extend it further.
Thanks everyone, and good luck!

TITLE : The Chimes At Midnight
STATUS : available
DESCRIPTION :
This Mission is set before Surface Tension.
Following the events of "A Step Between The Stars", the Undine threat stands exposed. The Klingon High Council and Empire Ambassadors carefully negotiate with the other powers of the Alpha Quadrant to end current wars, and focus on the greater threat of the Undine.
Soon, a conference is to be held in the Jenolan Sphere. Prospects of a cease fire, and perhaps an alliance seem likely.
But not everyone supports this idea.
And the Undine, are still hiding.

Mission Summary:
2409 has been a long year for the Federation. With the Klingon War, invasion by the Borg, and now the threat from the Undine, Starfleet is stretched thin. In response, Admiral Tuvok has called for a conference to discuss the situation and the need for unity.
This is New Year's Eve, 2409. You have been invited to a New Year's Eve gala at Starfleet Headquarters. But with the quadrant at a turning point, this is more than a social gathering.

Not a lot of combat. Some optional space combat if you go looking for it. Primarily story based.
Well, I hope people can see the mission in the Foundry list. It took 19 publish attempts before it finally finished. And now when I look for it in the Foundry Mission List, I can only find it using ST-HKR3KABQF. No other search terms will find it.
