The question for me is, did he fail the STF for everyone? If yes, then bad on him. If no, who cares? Either way, the use of such abusive language is more the mark of a noob than anything.
My point just is: even if he failed it for everyone, who cares? It's Normal: ppl have to learn somewhere.
Funny thing is the dude who yelled is an elitist. The difference between a good/great player and an elitist is that the good/great player works with a team regardless of how bad and attempts to help or encourage them. An elitist just has a sense of superiority that is unfounded, causing them to see anyone not as good as them as inferior peasants who should be yelled at or worse.
There's no need for those people. At times I've really wondered about players in FPS games who play hardcore modes and go 0-40. How can they derive enjoyment from being spanked that hard? But I have to remember that everyone has to start somewhere, it's those who have more hours logged than anyone and still do scores like that you need to avoid (yes they do exist...).
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
Lmao. I got berated through a whole run of CE advanced by a scimitar for using a fleet galaxy. Something about not knowing anything about the game and how bad my ship choice was. Anyway, long story short, got a good chuckle at the end of the run, since I was the only one who didn't die, and also made 1st place. I could've kept any one of my team alive, but suddenly felt very vengeful.
funny how they are called nerds and then add rage, that isnt nerd rage, trust me ive seen nerd rage at its finest!
just some fly of the handle kid who feels entitled, if i were in that scimmy players position i wouldnt of quit i would be taking a perverse delight in the silly comments and watching the irony of the whole thing and laughing hard.
you want nerd rage? :P

T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Oh man, now I'm definitely gonna start using thalaron pulse in every instance now. The nerd rage shall be delicious!
Don't have it, but i suppose the Elachi big gun is a nice alternative.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I don't consider myself an elitist by any measure, but I will admit to rolling my eyes when I see a Scimitar charging up its Thalaron Beam because usually, one of three things happen.
The target(s) die before the beam can fire
The target(s) very slowly fly out of the beams range and nothing gets hit
The Scimitar gets targeted by everything and we get to see a singularity explosion
With all that said, I would never ridicule anyone, even when I see them using a terrible build or tactic. Kind of messed up that they were TRIBBLE enough to make the Scimitar pilot leave the mission altogether. Possible positive - maybe he will ask his friends/fleetmates for help with his build.:P
As long as we have people playing the game there will be elitist, as we have them in real life too. It is one of the reasons I don't do queues as I just don't want the drama, I play a game to relax and have fun.
the sad part is that the Devs have only added fuel to the fire with the current game mechanics. that poor player who just wanted to use his shiny, shiny under the current game mechanics will get attacked because the shiny, shiny weapon is sub par. If you don't have the best and aren't an elitist then you aren't helping at all. the days of a few good players getting a not so good player thru the content are over and the Devs did this on purpose.

I have been abused of closing rifts and killing mirror ships faster than expected in mirror event. I advised him to tell his mother about the usage of birth control in future.
This advice helped him to some extend.
Grinding for MkIV epic gear?
Ain't Nobody Got Time for That
The thalaron weapon has never realy been considered good, even before DR. It is slow to fire and as said it basically means you are out of action until it does and the mobs have moved out of firing range or arc. It is only useful against the big none moving ones and even then not that much. It really isn't worth the three slots needed to get it.
I have seen it used once in the Undine BZ against the planet killers. I used it once in the mission where we fly the RR flag ship, the so called disabled Undine ships soon moved and were well out of arc before it fired. Played the mission again not using it and they didn't move. If there was one situation where it could have fired faster it was there.
This is in general, because as with other things in the game there wil be people who have found a way to work it to their advantage and have spent the time getting it that way.
I fly the ships I like to fly, I load them up with the consoles and abilities I like to use, I dont give a rats a** what anyone else thinks about it. I pay my money, so I'll play my game, the way I want it. If I want to macro fireworks into every gravity well.. Done! Use abilities just because they look bada** groovy or just for 'reasons' then baby I'm gonna!
If I'm the cause of a fail run, then sure (tends not to happen but we all have bad days) -
They can offer some constructive advice.
If I fail the run on purpose (trolling, and something I would 'never' do) -
They can report my A**.
But unless they are paying for my game, and buying me my ships, they can stick their collective elitist attitudes right up their a** and join my growing ignore list.

You and me both, even the multivaried jerk-elitist fraternity have lost the old 'hammer the point home' patience they once had. I blame it on dropping standards of literacy! They just dont have the vocabulary for a proper in-instance rant these days. Once upon a time you could warm a small room in Alaska with the heat from a good trolling of said jerk, not any more though. *looks whistfully out of the window
OP, both you and your friend shouldve just put the idiot on ignore list and be done with that, but ofc first to tell him a few bad words and then ignore him so he cant reply. That usually TRIBBLE off ppl more I lost count on how many idiot DPSers I've put on ignore after linking their crappy parse logs lol
But anyway, this attitude just shows how much messed up is the game right now. No more fun builds are allowed, only DPS, DPS, DPS. And Cryptic is not even trying to stop that, but they encouraging this crapy DPS playstyle. Before DR I loved to use my scimitar with the thalaron and a good DHCs build on my rommie, but now that is no more valid cuz aparently we have to "adapt"
Can't say it is for me...in fact quite the opposite for me...group chat is almost always 100% dead and people ignore it...plus I've never seen anyone every complain about a Scim using the thalaron pulse before.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

I personaly never bother looking at the Group chat, or fleet chat for that matter, dead as can be for weeks now so I figured "why bother"

Generally I agree with that as long you don't fail mission fly how you want. But there is also other side of the coin, at some point you may not fail mission but still also don't contribute anything to complete it.

Oh, I totally agree, If what people are doing is 'knowingly' not pulling their weight at the expense of the group, then in my mind they are basically trolling (I guess I could have worded my original post a little better lol). I'm generally not a min/max kind of player, thats too much like having a 2nd job, and with DR it costs close to running a small house lol. But, I pull my weight and don't burden the group I'm in.. If for no other reason than it would be bad manners on my part.
1. It takes a long time to charge
2. ..during which you cannot fire other weapons
3. .. which results in actually decreasing your total damage output by using the thaleron
4 .. in addition to being vulnerable to enemy attack during the chargeup
5. and all that doesn't guarantee a single kill because the NPC move out of the cone.
And i am sure i have forgotten one or two points here.

On my Synthi-tar build (a fun build designed to look as canon as possible) , I use the tharalon as often as I can, usually in cce - its great fun to use - lv3-5 QA, secondary shields, freshly activated epts and tss and you can easily tank for the duration while boosting with rom rep t5, aux battery and as much part gen as can be fitted
and if I blow up? Oh well, the tharalon cloud might kill something...
well, the scim pulse bomb takes longer to fire than it would to just shoot the thing to death on normal difficulty assuming that all team members actually shoot at the structure. Time his bomb goes off, there will be nothing to hit. Therefore using it was a poor decision. It says nothing about his build (except that he has all those consoles slotted, which is not "bad" but it is probably not "uber" either).
And the other guy was a jerk.
I see almost none of this and I pug dozens of STF daily. Once in a while someone gets mad but its rare from my experience. I got a little mad last night myself -- I do NOT insult people but my entire team let me die to a pair of spheres while they shot at the gate in KHIT advanced. I did not rant, just observed in chat the lack of teamwork and then limped back at 1/4 impulse. Gate was still there when I got back lol.. so they had neither guns nor heals slotted apparently.
"Elitists" Don't play "Normal" difficulty of STFs. Back before DR I wouldn't even play normal while leveling to 50 (people were so bad in normal that it was much more likely to fail than elite).

That is because they changed the optional rewards about 2 years ago. No one lost their tempers after the change because the penalty for failing optionals was barely noticeable. No one gets mad now because they didn't lose much.
