Earlier today I ran Infected conduit
NORMAL - as I was testing out my new build and looking to iron out a few niggling problems...
In the group, there was me 'in a the new T6 Rommy Warbird' a few assorted Fed cruisers and 2 Scimmitars. The STF was going well until we got to the first conduit. We took care of the 4 smaller generators and then started to pound on the Generator... then it happened ...
One of the Scimitars had the audacity, the gall, the dam right cheek to use the Thalaron pulse on the conduit !!!!
This set off the other Scimmy player to fill the chat with nothing but abuse - all directed at the poor Thalaron -using Scimmy
For some reason, the Thalaron-using Scimmy was 'a f^%^&^g noob who should quit the game, he is ruining the game with his stupid build, etc ...
Needless to say I was rather stunned by this... this being Conduit 'NORMAL' I was under the impression that any build was good enough ?
The poor guy in the Thalaron Scimmy quit the team (and I can't blame him), I told the other Scimmy pilot how much of a F/7656ng jerk he was and then I too quit...
So, is this the 'norm' now for this game? Dare to use a 'special' or set of 'special' consoles and you'll get derided?
It left a terrible taste in my mouth...
(Edited - Thalaron not Thoron :-)

I had a guy last night in a schimitar who was parsing the group. Its funny I think he insulted us because he was not at the top of the parse and he thought he should be. It was crystaline entity. I was on the top lol I think this angered him. He was spewing TRIBBLE I said nothing I just as usual hit ignore and left.
some interesting people playing these days. I wish they would make private groups and stay out of the pug q's :P
*ahem*

Even more fun is "Oops fireworks button" just as you die from a warp core breach
Rep gear isn't going to magically solve your problems. Paragraphs will help, though.
We really need to drive it into players' heads that throwing gear at a problem isn't the solution. At best it's a bandaid, at worst it's a huge resource investment that will actually hinder your performance...
I can get pretty frustrated sometimes with the people who play this game myself. But when I feel that coming on, I immediately turn the game off and go outside. Outside needs no high speed connection. Nor much else either. But it is a safe bet that guy won't be there. And even if he is, he has no InterWebs anonymity to hide behind. Which means he'll probably not say to my face what he so quickly typed into Chat.
Don't let them anger you. Laugh at them. It's what I do. And I find the results satisfying. But after I click on <Ignore>.
Oh I gotta try that now....:)
Well, one of those two should definately leave the game... I don't think it's the Thoron user tho...
You're missing the point, it's just a game. Some of us play for entertainment purposes only. If you make the entire game into a grinding job, why should I play? I already have a real job. I just want to have fun. If you want to play elite, that's fine, but don't take the Borg NP's away from the rest of us, so that we can never participate in the reputation system.
Some people have no lives, these are the ones that spend exorbitant amounts of time on pug team chats ******** at people in normal queues for not having the right build.
I tell you what, oif it were me that was getting yelled at I'd keep doing it over and over again (as long as it didn't risk losing the STF for the rest of the team).
Here we go again...
If you can't beat the Advanced missions using non-rep gear, the rep gear won't solve that problem. It's good, but completely unneeded. Basic understanding of the game mechanics and how to throw a decent build together are far, far more valuable.
You're bringing this unfun gear grind on yourself. You can do fine without it. I'm not sure why you want the rep gear if you don't want to grind. You also seem to be unaware that the some of the best rep gear is available without setting foot in an Advanced queue...
In any case, we're getting off topic, and it's mostly my fault. The player in the OP is a jerk, let the guy with the 3-piece have some fun. It's not like you need a serious build for Normal, you don't even need one for most Advanced missions anymore.
Nope. To be honest I wouldn't say that person was even an elitist, since even the biggest elitsist I know in this game wouldn't be bothered by that. Crazy maybe.
Daizen - Lvl 60 Tactical - Eclipse
Selia - Lvl 60 Tactical - Eclipse
Yesterday, in another game, our team was losing and for some reason this player felt it was my fault somehow, calling me every name in the book. She said she hopes I die from a virus(I don't remember which one) and get sent to helk(a misspell by her obviously). I responded with a little fun saying, 'wow, helk sounds like an awful place, why would you wish that on me?' and that respond sparked even more anger and it got much worse.
So, it's best to hit the ignore and move on, it's just not worth it, you're here to play the game and to have fun, not to put up with someone else's tantrums. Only problem with ignore here is that you may and can still get matched up with that same person, but at least you can't hear them jabbing away.
To be honest, I've only had one situation that I can remember in STO where I've had a serious issue with someone and I pugged all the time. The community here isn't half bad when compaired to other games, especially F2P.
OP i hate to tell you but that type of attitude will only continue to show up
DR as a whole is more pointed for the elitests and less for the average casual player.
as such the elitest / hardcore types think that anything they percieve as wrong is to be trolled flammed and to shame a person.
If there is anyone to blame for this its cryptic for putting the game into the current state its in which made many casual players like myself stop playing.
I hope the thalaron user didnt quit the game over the harsh mouth of a complete and total idiot who has no concept of teamwork and how to help players become better.
Fools like that though will only increase as this game goes forward...to sad really this game was so casual freindly before DR.
All of humanity's stupidity in STO has all come since DR. Everything is DR's fault. We were all perfect angels who never got mad at each or made playing mistakes pre-DR.
*sigh* I miss the good old days too!
I think that guy was just being a putz. Being a putz is what 'has to go'.
Down with the putzes!
Yes, having fun is such n00b behavior.
no ....ITS A FAAAAAAAAKE!!!
No offense, but what is your complaint exactly? That the guy was a noob? That he received verbal abuse? That he should have been allowed to be 'special' and fire at the conduit? That, on NORMAL, none of it should have mattered?
Seriously, not sure which of the above reasons makes you upset.
In general, though, I think people should step off on Normal. You're not yelling at your 3-year-old for riding his bike with training-wheels either, now, do you?
at the start we split up 2 pairs of players each heading toward 1s, the fifth flying alone toward a 5
the rest of us saved our ships and joind up and saved a 2 and clear the mission condition, and a guy in a scimitar (what is it with this ship) called the loner at the 5 out, at first I agreed with him, but then he turned abusive and continued to rant on and on and on. it was ridiculous.
what was funny was after the STF was over and crazy scimitar guy left, the guy being ranted at asked me what he was so mad about because he "just tuned him out". I explained that it was better to attack the lower number ships first because the the mission condition. He agreed and said he would know for next time.
it only shows, if you only rant and rave about something, no ones going to listen, and even if you are right no one will learn anything
The question for me is, did he fail the STF for everyone? If yes, then bad on him. If no, who cares? Either way, the use of such abusive language is more the mark of a noob than anything.
