Requested Foundry Assets-9/18/2014

As a new! Foundry author, I've been working on a Borg mission, and I've noticed a few things that might be useful for us to have. Without further ado:

SFX:

  • A “hands up” animation, as though the NPC is being held at disruptor-point.
  • A “cloak” and “decloak” animation, like the Jem’Hadar Shroud.
  • A “Dead” animation or flag would be much cleaner to use than using the “Lie Flat” animation (and it wouldn't have those annoying full health bars).
  • A “blood smear” SFX (intended to be applied to the ground, walls, etc) would be useful for war scenes. A couple of different blood SFX, including palette-swapped alien colors, would be better.
  • Similarly, a “charred” SFX would be really good to have for damaged ship interiors, exploded Borg converters, and so on. Applied to the floor; applies a burned looking mask.
  • A “melted” SFX would also be nice. It’d be even nicer if there was a “hot melted” and a “cold melted” SFX, for showing if an explosion occurred recently or in the past.

    Map Bakes
    • It would be nice to have at least one perfectly blank level-nothing on it, just perfectly flat. If time permitted, it would be nicer to have a couple of blank levels: a straight river/canal, an undecorated lake, etc. Skycastles are fun, but it’d be much nicer to do them properly.

    • If all of the decorative assets could be removed from existing maps, that’d also be quite helpful…with a few water features and a changed skybox, a desert map can double as a Borg-infested jungle…but not if it’s full of cacti.

    • A way to toggle assets from maps would be excellent, even if it’s just switching to another baked map without the assets. I, for one, would love to be able to use the Ice Cave maps without all of the icicles.

    • It would also be nice to have some small “pipe” levels pre-baked for floater use. This could take the form of a small, long interior maps surrounded by walls, with holes cut in them at regular intervals. One vertical map and one horizontal map would suffice for most people’s uses, I would think.

    Ground
    • Being able to select the weapon asset a NPC uses would be quite useful. I’d like to be able to give one of my Omega Force operatives a TR-116B, have a couple carry Omega Carbines, and have a third carry, say, a generic Antiproton minigun. For added goodness, have the damage done by the weapons reflect the weapon (i.e. the TR-116B should actually penetrate shields).

    • If that’s too much work, a simpler (scriptable!) workaround might be to create a set of single, generic NPCs, with one NPC having one given weapon. Then, repeat that for every weapon.

    • A way to de-link both the AI and the NPC alignment from the NPC itself, and to link it to triggers or the timeline would be a lovely thing to have, but probably not doable without a lot of work. Still, it’d be nice. Just imagine a crazed Ferengi biting people like a Gorn, or your friendly contact turning hostile after you discover that she’s an Undine in disguise. (I do know there are workarounds for the latter, but it’d be a lot cleaner and easier for designers to have a proper alignment switch than the beam-out trick we use now).

    • Single NPCs (without groups) would be incredibly useful. All we need are six generic ones, two for each faction…

    • With regards to customizing NPCs, Romulans are missing some important costume options (the Tal Shiar Belt is one such option that it’d be *really* nice to have. In general, Romulans seem to have quite a few bugs (colors don’t work for some armors, many top armor pieces are missing, many of the head options are missing, etc); if there’d be any way to do a QA review of their assets, it would be time well spent. Failing that, could you just copy all of the Fed/Klingon assets over to them? It doesn’t have to be canonical, and we promise that we’re already used to dealing with clipping and bugs. Really!

Not going to happen. I don't think there is a single drop of blood in all STO. It's related to PEGI rating and this kind of thing.

Not sure if they can give us those tools. Probably too many bugs/exploit (like charred corpse) waiting to happen

Technically, you can. Using a ferengi costume on a gorn. That will be a gorn (with all the related animations, weaponry and faction affiliation) that look like a ferengi. Or you can use an animal with a ferengi costume, but then it's more like a zombie, bitting people to death.

They have, though. Solonae sphere mission with Worf has a bloodstain or two. And then there's what happened to that one Vaadwaur in Dragon's Deceit. Not so much bloody as in liquid pooling on the floor but certainly a limit they've not pushed before.

Red, Purple and Blue blood in Sphere of Influence.

ALOT of blood when the parasite chews it's way out of that vaadwaurs stomach.. you even see his rib cage.

White "Blood" in all the missions with the "newborn" Elachi.

Green Blood... I know there's a mission with it... can't name it though. (Obviously Romulan themed)

This game is no longer rated by the ESRB. As for PEGI, it looks like their rating is rather out of date, it still lists Atari as the publisher. http://www.pegi.info/en/index/global_id/505/?searchString=star+trek+online

I think this has appeared before, in the old "Requested Assets" thread ( http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=330721 ), but for my mission, I'd like:
    • The columns and arch from the New Romulus Fleet Embassy - maybe a row of them as one object, to save the detail limit.
    • The walls from ditto.
    • Heck, nearly everything from the Embassy, it's so pretty - but those are the major ones, there's nothing else quite like them in the Foundry.
