Nope, I've seen a lot of players who played from Beta complaining. I played in Beta, I'm complaining mostly because with the competition around STO is not keeping pace with other game engines and development levels.
Chris Robert's on SC:
"You don't have to do something again and again and again repetitive that doesn't have much challange, that's just a general good gameplay thing."
some people created secondary forum accounts and started ranting from a new because they got banned for insulting.
some others say they play this game since closed Beta but have no idea of the game, and make everyone else responsible for errors.
others are only casual gamers but claim they know everything better than a Multi-Million company.
and the rest is doing it just for fun to get attention.
and their only response when confronted is: You are a Cryptic White Knight
I would say that anyone, and I do mean ANYONE,who thinks DR is STO best expansion yet and finds no fault with what the game has become, has very,VERY low standards indeed.
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!
Take back your home, end the grind!
Volunteer moderators policing the forums is like a mall cop trying to solve a murder.
It's the Way of the InterWebs. Some people will complain if they have nothing to complain about. Some people will make up something to complain about. Others will claim they helped Bill Gates build the first MS/DOS system to give credence to their viewpoint.
It is easy to get frustrated around here. It is easy to give the complainers too much importance and listen too hard to them. My answer?
I go play STO.
I am by and large content with STO "as is" instead of constantly wanting to play STO "as I demand it should be!" What I want it to be may not suit another fan of Star Trek or STO. Not blind to STO's many, many faults. There are things which are just flat wrong with it. If I continually focus only on what is wrong, I never seem to enjoy what is right.
It is very enjoyable to drop my cloak and Alpha strike an enemy ship and then completely evade any response they offer if they survive. Doesn't matter if it is in a mission or in Ker'rat. It is enjoyable to fly missions and PvP with my Fleet mates. I enjoyed giving someone I'd never met before an MU ship they really wanted but couldn't afford. It was just as much fun to help them gear up the right way as well. The best part was I made a new friend and we then spent a few hours chatting about STO, Star Trek and other things we liked.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
I would say that anyone, and I do mean ANYONE,who thinks DR is STO best expansion yet and finds no fault with what the game has become, has very,VERY low standards indeed.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I play everyday, but I do see some technical problems and I then mention it. I know they're a work-in-progress game as all software is still no matter what they tell you. So things do get fix here though. I am sure it's a lot of work to take on 24/7 online game to keep it going though.
Is it just me, or the MAJORITY (not all) of the complaints come from people who have been in the game in less than 3 months? Just an observation.
I'm assuming that you are basing this observation (and I may be wrong) on the "rank" of the person posting. However, if so what you are failing to realize is that there are MANY of us that have been in the game from the start that rarely post in the forums.
I've been playing for some time, longer than 2 years and YES I am complaining more about this game every day. It was fun and is starting to really get ruined mostly by their treatment of the players. Out of all the times I have submitted a bug report or complaint they have done virtually nothing every time. The players can help you more than the people that run this game which is really sad. I am a life time member at the moment very upset and could not begin to start with my complaints.....but here are a few.
!. The free giveaways from the Cryptic store were nice except for the people who had already purchased them with Zen or REAL money. To not compensate them was an insult.
2. It gets very tiresome to zone in for a fight only to have to spend time redoing your tray.
3. Crafting.... How can you get the rare stuff to craft with for the gear you need to upgrade if you cant do the advanced because you dont have the gear to do it with? Since the new system has been in place it has become a very long wait in most ques to even try to do a mission.
4. In the old Que you knew you would have to carry a bad player most times and was very excited to find a great group. But with the new system if you get saddled with a bad player everyone in the group looses. Thus the Que's are emptying out causing long wait times.
5. I understand when you bring in new content you will have a few bugs but to not fix the old bugs is pretty bad. And when a bug report is made your answers are classic. The latest answer given to me by support staff was that it was there for the player to find so we would have the unexpected pleasure to enhance my game play??!?!?! Loosing 1 million experience points is an enhancement to my game play??? Not to mention it was an unexpected pleasure! Oh for those that have not had the pleasure if you donate to the fleet's embassy upgrade you might want to do it in small chunks or you too can find this enhancement and unexpected pleasure.
The majority of the accounts that are less than 3 months old who are complaining are secondary accounts made by "veteran" haters trying to make it look like more people agree with them.
I wonder if anyone is actually sad enough to do that.
1100-ish day veteran. And I'm always complaining. Always angry. All the time.

That's just the thing, regarding the bug reports; Q&A handles those, and any that they find appropriate/important enough, they give the reports to the devs (who weigh that against all the other things they're working on, further weighed against priorities/orders/etc). The devs are also not responsible for personally answering those tickets
Also, how is not getting some free an insult? If you already bought them, you got what you paid for, and you lost nothing now... anything else is dangerously close to needless entitlement that you can't blame on them.
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I've seen a mix of both, I suppose such big change would get people commenting regardless of time spent on forums or in game. Moving the goalpost is a change that affected everyone.
But most have been from older players. Actually in all my time playing and browsing through here I've never seen such an epidemic of what EVE players would call 'Bittervet Syndrome' before DR landed. Every previous season or expansion never got this negative a reception.
It'll die down once the creep catches up, and before long it'll be business as usual.
Is it just me or are all the people complaining about people complaining about people also complaining about other people complaining about people complaining?
WILL IT NEVER END?
(insert Complainception gag HERE)
Also, I complain heaps and I'm at 3+ years and counting.
Also, is it just me, or is it someone else? WHO CAN IT BE NOW?
(Men at Work, top band for an 80s Aussie group.)
(If I thought for a second that the OP was serious, I'd have responded in kind. Here, I just kind of responded.)

that seems to be mostly people who didn't want to have to re-gear since they liked their old gear.

They could also be straw man to create the image of the ignorant apologist fanboi, where people are actually much more nuanced in their opinion of the game.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
that seems to be mostly people who didn't want to have to re-gear since they liked their old gear.
Aye, it's a Catch 22.
People grind for ages for the best gear > the grind means endgame is played to death and the resulting power means it's no longer a challenge > since grind is the endgame new content means new grind and even more powerful gear as prizes > people grind for ages for the best gear...
I guess I was on something then. I swear I saw 50 posts with "October 2014" or "September 2014" as a join date on complaints. I guess that my judgement got the better of me of reading all of the complaints.:)

Well, newbies tend to have a different flavor of complaints.
Vets usually aren't the people who complain because they can't figure out how to solo a Bulwark...

This thread has people with avatars of both Rat and Jade Falcon. I approve.

Oh yes, most definitely. There are people out there sad (and with enough time on their hands) enough to do that.
