I used to run the Tac Oddy prior to DR. When DR came out, I switched to the Galor which had a free upgrade, and have been using it for a few weeks. I miss the Tac Oddy. I was more comfortable with the Tac Oddy prior to DR.
Would getting the upgrade to the Tac Oddy be worth it over staying with the Galor? Both were non-A2B beam array configs.
Delta Rising has Rendered the Galor complete and utter garbage, giving it a engineer slot it didnt need and defensive traits that it totally didnt need either. What the Galor needed was another Tac console and damage dealing traits to keep to its highly offensive theme.
You will never, ever die in a Galor in DR, enemies deal the same or even less damage, so making the Galor tougher was an idiotic move.
You wont ever kill anything in a Galor now, its probably one of the weakest cruisers in the game.
DR - More Hitpoints and Defense, less incomming damage.
I would be surprised at this point to learn that anyone working for cryptic acually played STO.
Excellent! That's exactly how I play PvE, outlast the baddies. I don't give a TRIBBLE about doing 1 meelion plus DPS in 2 seconds to blow something to smithereens, I want to do enough DPS to grab aggro, let the glass cannons mop up, while I mitigate the incoming damage. So, what's the better PvE tank with the DR changes, that can take fire from lots of baddies and keep on surviving without having to disengage, ship? The Galor or the Tac Oddy?

I fly the Tac odyssey. The vaadwaur barrage can rip her down to nothing if you get caught in the middle of the spread . I doubt the galor can fare better. The Tac O gets a fourth Tac console, a nice bonus, and DR has upgraded the escort so that she is viable. In the mirror incursion or Borg invasions, she can handle a frigate solo. Check the oddy.. I think I got her upgraded for nothing.

I know to-each-their-own but I have a Galor I am flying around DR just fine. Have no problems killing any enemy I come across, no problem staying alive. I did have 1 A2B skill but I have replaced it with Directed Energy Mod. The few second cooldown from that Duty Officer just isn't worth it. I say stick with the Galor as it is more manuverable than an Oddy.
FYI If you are a LTS, you get a free ship upgrade token.

I love that the Tac ody got a 4th tac console. that combined with all the resists from the mastery has made the ship better all round and I think the cruiser is competitive again.

But the Oddy is a tank at Lvl 60...
Depends how you want to play but I'll say this: Those Spiral Wave Disruptors are very nice.
