I have been wondering for a long time, especially considering maps that are in the Foundry( and those made by Genesis)...what influences map layout.
What I mean by this, there are so many maps with long corridors and rooms set in odd places. For example, when planning a ship interior, I would assume that since space is finite and at a premium, there would be use of it. Some of these interior maps have a sort of pretzel logic to their corridors and room placement.
I was wondering if we could get some insight into why this is so, I can only assume that it has more to do with gameplay reasons then anything, but its something Ive always wondered.
