I bought the Operations pack, and $100 on zen for misc items too.
I have completed DR on my main, and spent time with each ship on each toon.
And I am bored with virtually no driving urge to play.
I have six alts to level and do DR, but absolutely no desire to do so. Grinding is out of the question - it's boring, it has virtually no rewards and it's now been made too difficult.
Clearly the people who made the decisions to strip rewards and increase difficulty don't play the game.
The old STF's at least we could chat and laugh while we played.
My choices are to do my dailies for 6 months while I do R&D and then past $1200 per toon to upgrade them, or pay $4500 USD x 6 to fast track what I want.
Yeah, not going to happen even if the game was actually fun to play.
---
The content was a lot like the voyager series; a few high notes in an otherwise boring slog through the same garbage over and over. The voice acting was excellent, and there are a few twists in the story that made me say wow.
But the operations pack isn't one of them. Here's why:
Initially I was extremely disappointed in the changes to the STF queues. The rewards have been nerfed, difficulty raised, and the R&D materials placed beyond reach. Honestly R&D is going to take me until May of 2105 to complete, so I wasn't too concerned. I can afford to buy my materials.
But many players I hang with cannot. And they're dropping like flies because of the absurd cost increases. Those increases are time and materials, while doing STF's which have become like work.
Playing by myself is not the driving force behind an MMO.
So all the cool new ships to show off are pretty much meaningless.
Next on the list: Lets nerf the existing game. Lets kill the patrols.
Sure, it was a fast way to level. But like many long time players, I've already earned it 5x over. Now I have to do it again? Of course I'm going to take the path of least resistance.
And Cryptic took that away too. I can see why, and I'm ok with that.
If there was a DR ship that looked interesting the fact I'll have to rebuy it every year is a big hurdle for Cryptic to overcome.
Having to rebuy my Vesta, Oddy, and Kumari packs, for second rate outcomes, and buy T6 ships just to get the ship traits if I want to do anything above normal? That's the convoy load of straw that crushed the camel.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Frankly, I made the mistake and purchased this pack to immediately discover that the individual consoles quote a 'Fleet' version to be equipped on.... so now did I only pay for this pack, I'm going to have to upgrade again to a fleet version... this would of been extremely useful info from the getgo...
I only play my Romulan character these days so no, I didn't buy the pack, there's TRIBBLE in it for Romulans. I saved a ton of money by just buying one Romulan T6 ship.
Well, I decided not to, but not for any malice or dissatisfaction towards Cryptic. I just didn't want a bunch more ships I'll never use sitting around. I've got too many of those already from my earlier years playing the game. Besides, I'll pay less overall just buying the two or three ships I want.
This plus the fact these T6 ships are only 10 console. C store ships tend to get more powerful over time as well. I just bought a Hazari destroyer on the exchange . . . It's 11 console.
Side note, I believe there would have been a fair amount of players that would have bought a mini pack or a faction specific pack. Cryptic had to be greedy at want $125.
This plus the fact these T6 ships are only 10 console. C store ships tend to get more powerful over time as well. I just bought a Hazari destroyer on the exchange . . . It's 11 console..
And the Fleet T6 will have 11 consoles...the FT5-U Lock Box/Lobi ships have 11 consoles just like the T6 Lock Box/Lobi ships. So folks wanting those T6 discounts for their FT6 ships or wanting the consoles for the FT6 variants...etc, etc, etc.
It's not really logical. One reason there isn't as much going on KDF side is directly a result of decisions like this.
There's a lack of faith in Cryptic, that anything other than what has happened in the past will not continue to happen. Sure, KDF will get more ships down the road...just like they have in the past...and the disparity that's existed in the past is going to continue, right? And Cryptic will utilize their self-fulfilling prophecy to make sure their self-fulfilling prophecy comes to pass.
a big No , on the pack . why because it there is alot of stuff that I dont need or want . there are only 2 fed ships to me that i would consider , and not enough variety for the otther factions . though i like the kdf raptor design and the warbirds .
the rest isnt worth it . for me its better to buy what i want directly slowly per TOON, with grinding out DI and buying some zen here and there . better for my wallet .
i dont mind spending expansion DLC prices for a update . but more than that nope. with the grind harder on alts , while i will go thru and most likely spend time with each of my faction toons .
while i enjoyed the story and the VO i feel there are certain things about the progression that hinders my enjoyment , i also feel that there are less episodic missions because i dont consider PATROLS episodic content. so technically there are less episodes than previously led to believe in my book . that also curbs my spending .
you treat a customer with respect they return and pay over and over , mistreat them while you may get that initial purchase you'll never see more .
I won't pay the money, but more because I think the valuations they put on their content isn't just laughable, it's completely disconnected from reality.
An "expansion pack" costing more than two times a top-tier, brand new full game - and that doesn't even unlock everything for either the Romulans or the Delta Quadrant? Unlocking a single playable character (a ship) costing $20, $25, or even more?
Others place different values on dollars, I know, but my opinion is simple:
Your valuation is INSANE! - Kevin O'Leary
I'll do the periodic dilithium to zen conversion, but not going to spend real dollars for such low return.
I really, really didn't understand the reasoning behind such an insanely expensive mega pack for a game they keep pushing is F2P F2P F2P! I don't mind spending money on a game I am enjoying, and I've bought the dil increase, and boff and doff increase, etc. That's a few bucks every payday.
For the bigger purchases like a Fleet ship, I just chunk some extra cash into my account and wait until it builds up.
I am NOT, repeat NOT, as a casual player, willing to plonk down $124 on a mega bundle of stuff that I have no idea how it plays, how it looks, or how much I'm going to use it. Particularly not with the amazingly craptacular customer service PWE has. After years of playing WoW, after expansions and with the sub, I maybe spent that much. Over years. Rift, I've bought a couple of things here and there to support the game after it went F2P. I have never, ever, vomited out $124 all at once on a single game I play casually, or even seriously. When I first saw the price for the Delta pack, I thought it was a typo.
If the money were going towards a solid game that was smooth to play that I just couldn't get enough of, that's one thing, but this game and it's support are so buggy the only reason I really play now is because of my husband and yeah, I like Voyager. So now that I know what's in the pack and how it works and all that, I'm still not going to plonk down $124. I'm going to buy AC and DA instead.
Let's give Perfect World/Cryptic an idea how much $ they have lost, post here if you were planning on purchasing the Delta pack, but decided NOT to because of their actions.
Better yet, state if you plan on EVER spending $ on this game again.
I for one, will NOT be spending any more $ on this game.
I was thinking about buying the new klingon raptor, but I will hold off on it until they decide to fix the STF dithium reward system and terribly strong AI. If you're going to make the AI that strong and make stf's that hard, the rewards need to be commensurate with it.
On the subject of the delta pack, I decided not to buy it long ago because of the bad experience I had with the legacy pack and the uber strong ships that followed shortly after it's release, rendering nearly all of the legacy pack's ships obsolete.
Side note, I believe there would have been a fair amount of players that would have bought a mini pack or a faction specific pack. Cryptic had to be greedy at want $125.
Absolutely. If there had been a $20 starter pack of sorts that had four upgrade tokens for one-time claim, reclaimable blue-quality Intel BOffs for all three factions, and maybe a vanity title, I'd've been all over it in a heartbeat. I kept hoping, but it never materialized.

I don't think their dev team is large enough to develop for both parties. Even small things as making a simple ship pack.
That's the only logical reason I can see why they would ignore the KDF side so much.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.

Play other games.

I would have bought a pack if they added a rom/kdf sci ship and Kobali/Vaadwaur(either one) BOFF with costume unlock.
Cryptic pretty please, add Kobali/Vaadwaur BOFF to lobi store.
Typical Cryptic.
