The Aquarius will become the first Federation raider and its stats got improved significantly on Tribble. It has become a very interesting alternative to a pure escort vessel.
Renamed Aquarius Destroyer to Aquarius Light Escort.
- Improved its base hull value from 24,000 to 25,500.
- Improved its shield modifier from 0.85 to 0.9.
- Improved its turn rate from 17 to 20.
- Improved its impulse speed from 0.15 to 0.22.
- Added Raider Flanking, allowing it to gain a damage bonus when attacking a targets' rear arc.
+25% Damage vs. NPCs, +8.33% Damage vs. Players.
- Can now equip Console - Universal - Cloaking Device.
- All seats, except Commander Tactical, have been upgraded to be Universal.
The Aquarius' stats are simular to the Plesh Brek Heavy Raider. It has stronger shields, slightly better turn rate but a weaker hull. The cloaking device synergy will come in handy too. I will definetly try this one out.
HOLY F****!
A fed raider ?! which already has a fleet version qualifing for a T5U upgarde is something very interesting to say the least.
Honestly I didn't see that one coming, the aquarius was the forgotten failboat since it was introduced. Since it was released I saw it only 2 times myself and I thought it would stay that way.
This will probly create a huge backlash from the klingn playerbase, which is kinda understandable since they got another uniqueness taken from them buuuut admittedly it's kinda neat for new ship for feds to play around with.
Despite having to slot the cloak in a console space if you upgrade to T5-U you'd get an extra console (up to 11) anyway so still be able to run an effective 10 console ship with a cloak.
Looks a bit more interesting than it used to at least.
I am flying the Aquarius on one of my Scis for months now and never really had a problem with her anyway, except maybe from the speed and turn rate, which both feel a bit low for a ship this small. So, all I was ever hoping for was a speed and turn rate buff. But, you know, I won't resent all the other changes.:D So, I'm now a even more happy Aquarius Captain.
Feds already had the Breen Raider, which is more or less exactly the same. This one doesn't get Battle Cloak either.
Doesn't make much difference to the KDF, IMHO.
In my opinion a cloaking device makes a HUGE difference on a raider vessel. I could see many Fed players curently flying the Breen raider exchanging it for the new Aquarius just because it has the ability to cloak.

I always liked its look. It's a beautiful little ship. So far I just couldn't convince myself to buy a ship that is not on par with other T5 escorts.
The bit that really annoys is it being better than any KDF BoP at how a BoP functions. It only loses outright on turnrate, which you just need some on a BoP due to the way you fly them, so that isn't as much of a disadvantage as it would be in dogfighting.
It least it dosen't have a battlecloak and still needs a console for the normal one. I know it's not much considering the T5U will have 11 slots but that's still a slight advantage for true klingon BoPs.

So you just cloak a few moments later after your strike once red alert clears. No difference, certainly not enough to cover:
better hull
better shields
better impulse mod
better crew than every BoP except B'rels
an extra ens. Boff slot
2 extra devices
better or equal inertia
Truedat. all this really means, is that we'll have to out-think Cryptics special golden children...again.
I was actually referring to the gameplay being far more Klingon, but I suppose the usually higher ability of KDF players vs Fed players counts.
I know what you mean about the Feds - if it wasn't for the fact I simply cannot bring myself to delete them I would, the Federation of Star Trek just does not exist in STO.
well, like I said, my vestigal fed gathers dust unused-because why would I want to duplicate gameplay on someone so dead-average that they have to get everything, when I can play KDF, and my victories actually have some satisfaction to them?
Yes, all PvE is DPS racing and PvP is just a ruined mess of console swapping and power creep...

Personally not that suprised. Geko was talking in a P1 Podcast (this spring?) about how he intended to show some love for the Aquarius. But FLANKING?!? Wow...
So, Two Questions:
1. Has anyone verified that we are not being trolled? Is this for real? Some importaint details are being left out, like my 2nd question:
2. Is this an upgrade to the current ships (like when they updated the Gal-X this year), or a new ship unto itself (like the release of the new Patrol Escort)? If the former, which one should I have to get this new Raider when it hits the game? The 200k FC one or the 4 FSM/20k FC one?

Well you can verify it yourself. Everything is written down in the Tribble Release Notes.
It's indeed an upgrade to all current Aquarius vessels, not a new ship. Other ships get slightly upgraded as well like the Vesta (more hull and shields), Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit (higher turn rate and inertia), D'Kyr (higher turn rate and inertia, slightly altered Boff layout).

As soon as I posted, I hit the Galactic News Network (found NOTHING) and then Google... Found it. You posting the link does mean I don't have to for any others out there who doubted. Yes, both ships get this treatment, I think only the Fleet variant gets to upgrade to T5U.
Go with the full Fleet version. Objectively, it's got better base stats, and is more likely to have a full suite of upgrade available to it to increase those stats.
Pretty sure the Tribble Release Notes emphasize that only the Fleet version can be updated come DR and T5U. Hmm...
It's like they are begging me to never open my KDF toon again...

You can T5-U both a C-Store and Fleet version - the Fleet version keeps its extras in addition to T5-U ness.

There is no C-Store version of the Aquarius. Like some other ships the standard Aquarius sells for 200k fleet credits and is not upgradeable to T5U only the fleet version for 20k FC and 4 FSM.
Kinda erases the normal versions right of existance since it also has te be purchased with every character, does not grant discounts on the fleet version, is not qualified for the upgrade and fleet ship modules are even up on the exchange for EC (somewhere around 9 million, I think).
Seriously a fed raider? What's next, Fed ship with singularity powers? Thought on the other hand nice to see the Aquarius get a buff.

I"ve been talking with a few people who've been disinterested in PvP with all the junk that's been added, and they've expressed interest in VPvP, because it's more or less balanced, fun, and above all, cheap.
I may actually get a chance to field a team, once I correct a few deficiencies on my end (getting Teamspeak working, a decent headset, and some time to practice).
I've already started a "De-Building" process on one of my toons (KDF Orion Sci, Eialu) that includes de-quipping Duty Officers and Space Traits (she's going to be my "Ground Grinder" for fleetmarks, most likely).
Tough part will be arranging bridge officer replacements for several Nausicaans, lol. (Channel only permits a single Nausi.)
i like VPvP

raiding better not my voquv's brels don't have it.
other then that hopeful it will for the people that use it.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
 (silly Feds and their forcibly pacifist naming conventions even in wartimes)

My Fed Klingon does NOT have any problems with raiding. Neither does my Fed Cardassian

Fleet Aquarius vs Fleet BoPs.
There is one thing they cannot take away mind.

Come DR, VPvP will be basically all I will do.

What really hurt the BoP are Romulan ships and the many ships with universal slots these days. The BoP is undergunned and underarmoured.
Time for a Tier 6 Bird of Prey.
