I am well aware of the latency issues with satellite internet. However, with the newer Hughesnet Gen4 system, which I have been using for almost a year, it has worked quite well for this game. Granted, there is still some latency which makes pvp engagements impractical, but most of the game play has worked VERY well up to the point of the last patch which was supposed to make the issue of weapon effects being invisible, in some situations, go away. Since then, particularly in borg stf missions, there has been a severe increase in events of graphics stall: meaning....the screen freezes for one or two seconds then jumps to being current.
In addition, there are occasions where I will log in to a character, be able to play for a few minutes, then the game just becomes completely unresponsive. I can not change character or log out. I must exit the game. For up to 10 or 15 minutes after exiting, the launcher will go through its 5 attempts to 'update the launcher' then crash. After that, I can again log in to experience the same thing over again.
This usually starts happening after 5pm central US time. It works pretty well during the day,
This is a new issue since the above mentioned patch.
graphics are set as low as they can be without turning them off lol

Trace complete
As I said, I know all about satellite internet and MMO gaming. However, the Hughesnet Gen4 satellite system was working VERY well up until the previously mentioned patch. I have been in contact with them. They are having no difficulties in my area. This problem is NOT weather related. Something has changed in the game.
Any suggestions?
ps. don't say get cable or dsl..... lol unavailable

If you want to take a look yourself, simply activate the ping-display in-game. You just need to enter: into your chat. Type it again or restart the game, if you don't want to see it anymore.
If Star Trek Online was an Open-Source (GPL) Game, we would have a low-grind fork.
