Ever sine the patch on Thursday, I have been constantly disconnected every single time I change zones/map. Every time I get the 'Timeout connecting to Gamserver" error and dropped back to the login screen.
At the login screen it takes between 45 and 120 seconds for "Connecting to loginserver"
Once at the Character Select Screen, I always get the "Error loading last time" message, If I scoose "Normal Login" I will always get the Disconnected from Gameserver error every time!
If I choose "safe login" the game will load perfectly, until the next map/zone change.
I am using Bigpond Internet from Eastern Australia

Its very bad when your ISP starts throwing away your data packets the moment your connection to the STO Servers hits the real Internet, and at a rate high enough to make all following 'dropped packets' events suspect...
Its time to contact your ISP Tech Support and ask them why you have 'dropped packets' on your connection just after they leave your modem/gateway...

No, it's time a Cryptic Employee had a look at the data ... The game runs perfectly and smoothly at all times EXCEPT at map/zone changes and at the Character Selection Screen ... Obviously there is some other issue at play.
The game is virtually unplayable at the moment, and I know I am not the only one experiencing continuous and repeated disconnection issues ...
Hi, did you end up calling Telstra? I've been having extreme rubberbanding since the latest patch too, only been disconnected a few times though. My tests look very similar to yours 80% packet loss at Hop 3 and also a big leap to 260ms-450ms when I hit cogentco.com. Wondering if Bigpond has anything to say about it?
But I also have to wonder if it was this latest patch, since I started playing and up to the end of the crystalline entity event I've had near perfect gameplay then constant connection problems immediately after the server maintenance, nothing should have changed coming from this end
game is almost unplayable at this rate and just when I've put the delta rising pack into my trolley, I don't see myself hitting purchase if I can't play smoothly

There's probably some other issue at play, but its not caused by the STO Servers... If it was, then EVERYONE should be having these symptoms....
And I have never encountered this kind of problem in over a year of STO game play...
And the 'Path Ping' results don't lie... Your suppose to have ZERO packet loss on a reliable TCP/IP network connection...
Power Cycle the modem an any other routers and switches on your network.
On Windows PC.
If your have wired connection name this: batch file: mytcp.bat
echo off
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
netsh int reset all
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
sc stop Dhcp
sc start Dhcp
sc stop Dnscache
sc start Dnscache
Exit
After
Note if your on WiFi connection then use the mywtcp.bat shown below.
echo off
ipconfig /flushdns
nbtstat -R
netsh int reset all
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
sc stop Dhcp
sc start Dhcp
sc stop Dnscache

sc stop Wlansvc

Exit
These two what I use in business also at home too. You only use this if your are having packet issues which it seems you are. I would do this above first before doing anything else. But in all power cycle modem, router, switches all PCs on your network.
Now if you still have issues check with your ISP. Here they would send a HIT to the Modem to restart it. If you still have issues they they would have to send out service line tech to check your connections to and from their locations. If that doesn't work then replace modems or routers or even the NIC - aka nick card in the PC. Internal NIC can cause packet loss also that means it gone DUFF - bad. Also ports can go DUFF - bad also.
Thanks for the batch file coolheadal I tried it and the other things you suggested, sadly it didn't help.
Yes, I have contacted Telstra (and as a former employee, I know how to bypass their usual "read from a script" phone support, and get to someone with a brain)
They ran several tests on my line, after which I did the usual power cycle of router/pc and also changed to a different nic.
According to them, the issue does not lie with their lines or connections.
The question still remains why does the play and run perfectly (as does every other website on the planet that I visit, and every other online game (WoW, Diablo 3, Simcity) but the disconnects ONLY happen on map transitions?
"Beaming up" from say ESD to the Sol System is a guaranteed DC, same for First City to Qo'noS system or the Command Center to New Romulus System. Exiting Allied Sphere Space into the Tau Dewa Block is also a virtually guaranteed DC ...
After which I will go through the "Normal Login" the game starts to load, but as soon as it needs to decide which instance to place me in (i.e. load whatever map I should be on) -> "Timeout connecting to Gameserver" after only around 5 secs.. So I try "Safe Login" and exactly the same thing happens. After 3 or 4 attempts a swapping between normal/safe it will hang on the "Connecting to Account Serve"r for around 45 secs to 120 secs, after which using "normal login" will work ...
This process repeats constantly, and changing to a different character has no effect, as the same thing happens on that toon as well.

I have been having the same issues for the past 2 weeks or so; the game runs fine IF it transitions to the next map, if not there is a 40-60 second SNR followed by a DC.

Even entering normal queue maps can be tricky because if it starts to not responding
at ~ 30 % you are going to disconnect, and the only way to get back in is with the safe mode. Also you automatically cant go back in the particular event that you queued up.:(

Np, I've run into some issue here and working on solving on my end. I run enterprise network here so now everything from the layer switch and router layer switch firmware has be updated. I only have this one PC connected to managed switches. I trying see where the upload bandwidth issue is. ISP or STO or here.
