Yes I know it is your, as in not you are. I am not thick (I hope), however I am not as discriminating in my prose on the internet as I would be in writing a letter to her Majesty, the Queen.
Thank you however for your valuable input in correcting my disastrous misspelling, I shall try my utmost to avoid future spelling disasters.
You need to think of it more as a challenge than an insult...
He is basically challenging you to prove that it was a simple mistake, rather than ignorance... And I think you need to take him up on it.
I personally love these... Also the "Punctuation game" is fun:
"Let's eat Grandma"
"Let's eat, Grandma"
See? Punctuation saves lives ... That's why it's a fun game... You can get some rather funny conversations from misplacing a comma.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Yay! Now we can have pillow fights and jump on the bed. First order of the day is knighting Mr Wiskers as Lord fluffybottom the protector of the couch keep and defender of the realm!
Most is a blanket statement, it assumes anyone. In fact seeing majority response, what the OP received is a gracious response. You probably don't think so because of whatever experience you have is very limited on the internet. To anyone who has spent years on the net will tell you, cursing, sexism, and everything else is wall to wall like the air you breath. STO isn't even remotely close to all of the most famous chart topping multiplayer pvp games.
I really hope you know that nothing will change when making irresponsible blanket statements and claiming to be helpless victims.
PS You still ignored any specifics. How convenient. I am getting the impression none of you care about solving anything, you're just satisfied looking down at all the rest of the great unclean and bloviating how civilized you are because you merely brought the issue up.
Umm...what?
When you provide an actual response I will reply, otherwise i shall await the moderator's closing down of this topic.
If a woman is on T.V flaunting her bits about, lap dancing ect (and being well paid for it to boot) its called exploitation.
If a man is in a coke advert flaunting his bits or stripping at a 'hen party', any that male dares to comment on the unbalanced parallels, they are called misogynistic.
One rule for all, or no rules at all.
Fed up of hypocrites.
I don't think that word means what you think it means...
On a side note, where does the onus lie here? On those who have lowered their profanity filter and happened to see an offensive post or those who posted the offensive material in the first place?
I believe the EULA (via Perfect World Entertainment, INC and Cryptic) is pretty clear on this:
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS WEBSITE OR DOWNLOADING ANY GAMES, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS DESCRIBED HEREIN AND ALL TERMS INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE OR THE GAMES. IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, DO NOT REGISTER AND DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION UNLESS YOU HAVE FIRST OBTAINED YOUR PARENTS OR GUARDIANS PERMISSION.
And
You must observe these Terms, all Rules of Conduct, all applicable laws and all basic rules of etiquette and common courtesy when using the Service. Any conduct that violates the law in an offline, real world community is also a violation of these terms. We will not tolerate any illegal or offensive conduct.
f. stalk, threaten or otherwise harass or cause discomfort to another;
Open to interpretation, I know, but specifically so. The term cause discomfort can easily be applied to posting threatening or offensive language or engaging in threatening or offensive behaviour.
This is, however, more clearly defined in 16. User Content:
16.1 The Service may include discussion forums, chat rooms, user feedback, messaging features, comments and other interactive areas or services (Interactive Areas) in which you or other users create, post, send or store any content, messages, materials, data, information, text, music, sound, photos, video, graphics, code or other items or materials on or through the Website (the User Content).
You agree not to post, upload to, transmit, distribute, store, create or otherwise publish any of the following:
a. User Content that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable;
Therefore the onus clearly falls squarely on the offending party and NOT a user who has chosen to remove the profanity filter. In the instance of the OPs complaint he/she was fully within her rights to report these users for their comments. Whether or not Cryptic, et al, take any action I n response to this complaint is another story altogether.
I don't think that word means what you think it means...
I DO know what it means. What I am saying that it is misapplied grossly.
For instance, stating the above fact about the coke advert on 'mumsnet' asking why they didn't complain about the advert if they are 'against' sexualisation' of a persons body got me branded as a misogynistic person who 'is against' women's rights'.
Indeed they have no problem with male nudity (its a giggle) whilst female nudity is a horrible, terrible exploitation.

Then THEY aren't using the word correctly, I'd wager.
Sexualisation is just that - an exploitation of sex; a tool used by advertisement companies. If you see a cologne advert with a 98% naked male and a perfume advert with a 50% naked woman, both are equally exploitive and neither are misogynistic.
Attacking a woman verbally, physically or emotionally, or telling a woman that she is in any way inferior to a man based purely on her gender is.
Whats the word when the roles are reversed, however? When a woman treats a man as inferior based upon his gender? I am certain there is one other than a b*tch
Then THEY aren't using the word correctly, I'd wager.
I think this brings us back full circle. The OP does not know if the person concerned is a man or a woman (I have seen confirmed women gamers speaking of r***ping 'someones' TRIBBLE. (even if they did not have the equipment to do so, outside of 'strap-ons')
They should not have stated that they had a misogynistic experience if they had not confirmed all the facts.
They should have added to ignore and not jumped on the 'misogynistic' bandwagon, especially considering the fact they do not know if it was a man or a woman making the comments.
Can a women even make a misogynistic comment, without violating its definition?
Can a women even make a misogynistic comment, without violating its definition?
Considering that the definition is "negative towards women" and hypocrisy is a perfectly human flaw, absolutely.
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"
— Sabaton, "Great War"
I'm beginning to suspect that the OP has been waiting an eternity to work misogynistic into a conversation about STO, and this was the first opportunity. That's the trouble with obscure words that only a college educated feminist would have reason to know...only another college educated feminist would understand, or care.
All of this has taught me that the money we spend to send our children to college is being horribly misused.
That's the trouble with obscure words that only a college educated feminist would have reason to know...only another college educated feminist would understand, or care.
Thank you for a clear and practical definition of the term misogynistic
Whether or not it was your intention, youve provided an excellent example in your own choice of words.
Umm...what?
When you provide an actual response I will reply, otherwise i shall await the moderator's closing down of this topic.
I am glad there are some that understand what I am saying. Instead of calling people names like misogynist, or sexist when I don't like the facts they present in a debate.
I just thought of something that in fact makes the OP a sexist. In order to call someone sexist you must first know their gender is different, and to assume that they are targeting their gender. Which is then I have to ask, did the offender know your gender or did you assume they knew your gender in the first place to be able to make such an insult. Unless you knew he was a he or she was a she and he or she knew you were a he or a she, you then in fact were being sexist in assuming that they were a specific gender in the first place.
That is indeed a sexist comment, to attach a generic but crude insult to a specific gender.
Whats the word when the roles are reversed, however? When a woman treats a man as inferior based upon his gender? I am certain there is one other than a b*tch
Misandrist. And yes, a man can be misandristic as well as a woman can, just as a woman can be misogynistic (cf Phyllis Schafly).
And klang, "misogynistic" is hardly a word that "only a college-educated feminist" would know. If your own education is so lacking that you've never encountered the term before, this is hardly the OP's fault...
I dont know if this has been brought up yet, but **** can also mean:
An act of plunder, violent seizure, or abuse.
which perfectly fits what the original statement was getting at.
if someone is upsetting you in pvp, I recommend venting your frustration by blowing them up.
No. No it does not. For, as you will see by reading the rest of the section you lifted that from at Dictionary.com, this applies in such a sense as "the r*pe of the countryside". When addressed to particular individuals, it means:
1. the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse.
2. any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person.
If you're going to try to seize upon trivial details, it would behoove you to know all the trivial details.
All arguments aside, whether you, I or whoever feels the OP has a valid claim is irrelevant. The EULA is the Prime Directive of all games, forums and boards under Perfect World Entertainment Inc. That includes STO.
If any player feels they are being subject to or witness the use of abusive or terms-violating behaviour it is their responsibly to report it. After which, it falls into the admins hands and they, regardless of anything, have the final say. And no, they do not have to share their or the logic behind it decision with anyone.
So all of you crying grow up! Turn on your filter if you dont like it! and other blatherskite I strongly urge you to read and reconsider the EULA. If you feel you can not play the game in adherence with the rules presented then my only suggestion to you is to find another game or forum which allows such behaviour OR- prepare to defend yourself against a potential ban should they receive multiple and repeated complaints/reports about you.
It wont matter if you are a lifer, spend $10,000 on Zen or have been here since launch: the rules apply equally.

So if they reported in the game, why are they posting it in here? (forum admins have no control over game violations)
END OF LINE
Not quite end of the line?, more like an extension of a whine?
So if they reported in the game, why are they posting it in here? (forum admins have no control over game violations)
That is a good question. I guess they wanted to bring attention to the issue but, really, it doesn't matter and the forums ar enot the appropriate place to handle in-game issues, as you say.
good for the op reporting someone I guess but why did you feel like you had to come here to tell the forums, you reported that problem no reason what so ever to come to the forums to post all you are doing whine more and plus I think you are overreacting
Comments
Perhaps a bit of both
I disagree, ET was a homophone!

Its certainly important for the website, Therapistfinder
Don't know that one... But it sounds interesting.

Why would it need to be locked?
I don't see anybody breaking the rules, do you?

The issue is less about your feelings and more about adhering to the EULA you agreed to upon creating an account.
If one can not manage this simple thing, then perhaps one should go elsewhere.

All fits in with PVP.
All in all, perhaps the statement was a true and accurate description of what was about to occur.
Who can complain?!
