The Penny Arcade guys call it GIFT. Normal person + audience + anonymity = total dickhead.
That right there. So good....
Also LOL @ this thread. If you have glass feelings GTFO. I'll never report someone in Ker'rat for anything verbal. Dat Ignore button iz yo' friend. Use it, move on. Getting some loser warned isn't my goal. I rather him waste time typing TRIBBLE I can't ever read. LOL
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.
Yeah, maybe I should have pasted that in the doom thread. Tips for next time, if there is a next time
There'll be a next time. In fact I'm starting a betting pool. Ten strips of latinum says this time next month.
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"

I was just in a PvP zone when a player from another zone announced in chat "welcome to the **** club, whos first?" Poor punctuation aside, I've reported the offender, and would like to encourage all of my fellow gamers to do the same when they see this kind of behavior. I'm not opposed to a bit of trash talk, but there's no room in this community for such blatantly sexist language.
Looks like all you've got on this thread are the standard responses to sexism;
1. Boys will be boys
2. Can't do anything so, whatever
3. That's not sexism
4. No, YOUR the sexist!
5. Get over yourself
Might not achieve much right now, but good on you for having the courage to face the ample forum hate to highlighting it. There's no excuse for sexist, racist or homophobic language anywhere and it is wrong to attack or dismiss those who challenge it.
My god, I actually agree with nabreeki for once.....
I think that part of the issue is that in our society (and in gamer culture) it has become common for people to use derogatory and offensive terms (such as the r-word, n-word, and f-word). I don't think people usually do it maliciously, and most likely they don't even think about what those words and those contexts actually mean. It's something that's considered socially acceptable in that environment.
I will say though, that if there was one message that I got from Star Trek, it's that just because something is accepted doesn't necessarily make it right or okay.

Hi there, care to point out any specifics you have made about the posting populous as opposed to self-congradulatory remarks on your seemingly more civilized approach to managing strangers on the internet a thousand miles away?
My god, I actually agree with nabreeki for once.....
Seriously, it's not a big deal. Nabreeki is just like any of us. Hell, I even agree with him/her on most things ITT except for his/her claim that words he/she considers taboo should be universally binding instead of dealt with on a case-to-case basis when appropriate.
I am still trying to figure out when a rant about bad language turned into a "law-suit about sexual harassment and semantics"?
welcome to human race, where overreaction and "muh feelings override your rights" is the current theme.
if you can swat a mosquito with a newspaper, why not drop a nuke on it to make sure it's killed?
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

I know, right? All those good nukes just sitting around. Gotta nuke something.

I totally agree. ravenofborg was entirely in the right here. And I'm quite disgusted and disappointed with the sexism of most of the responses in this thread. Not surprised, but disappointed.

you got bee joking!
First off your in PVP somebody needs turn off the PC if they can't handle the sexist language
I for one encourage the community and it's blatant use of language right after I push my I WIN button...
This misogynistic TRIBBLE has been popping up all over the internet/forums ever since that Z-list pseudo celebrity allegedly got death threats over a twitter, to which she responded by retweeting it to everybody before she even called the police.
Every single MMO I have ever played (and I have played since the original Ultima Online) I have been told by many people they are going to R**PE me, kill me, burn me, and a whole other slew of unpleasant threats.
They had no idea whether I was a man or a woman (and I had no idea if they where a man or a woman) in fact, OP you have no idea if the person you was speaking to was a man or a woman, I have heard women use that word towards others - it is not exclusively used by men.
I cannot see anything sexist (offensive yes, but sexist NO) about the interaction you had with this person, they did not know if you was a man or a woman, and YOU do NOT know if it was a man or a woman who offended you.
Instead of moaning about it, (these kind of people will ALWAYS exist), try to be the mature one and add them to ignore - your problem solved, with FAR less effort than coming onto the forums, and moaning to people who (most probably) are going to laugh at you for doing so, especially those (men AND women) who have had more than a few months experience in any kind of MMO.

Refreshing to see a troll admit to it by their name.

1. Welcome to what must be 'the first time you've interacted with other humans online'.
2. Don't think that the Star Trek brand means anything here, it certainly isn't a place of tolerance and progress. This is probably the biggest mistake you made.
3. "would like to encourage all of my fellow gamers to do the same when they see this kind of behavior" - couldn't agree more, but I would like to do things other than "report every moron every time they say something moronic" with my play time. Yes the onus is on us, but how long per session SHOULD one spend reporting those that need reporting? 50% ? 75%? 90%?
Don't know about you, but I want to PLAY, not do maths or write reports (Well I did want to play before the last 'update' - way to break crafting AND DOffing, Cryptic - so much lose for so much hard drive space, seriously - WE NEED TO TALK, CRYPTIC.).
4. I don't know what you think you heardm but THAT WAS TRASH TALK. The stuff you heard. THAT'S TRASH TALK. You can't say you're 'not opposed to it', because you have *CLEARLY TAKEN UMBRAGE AT IT*. Can you seriously not see this very basic thing?
My advice: I would suggest that you run while you can. This will NOT get better. It won't change. No matter how nice you are as a person, all you can do is sort out your OWN behaviour. I used to be a jackass like you, a 'nice person'. Nice is nice, but if you can't develop some thicker skin, then you may need to consider not playing online ever. Not even joking. That's 100% what I did. TRIBBLE multiplayer in anything ANYWAY.
If the devs can't be bothered monitoring the channel for the benefit of the public (and they can't, no devs can, ever) then they can get stuffed and I will keep my money in general.
look at this is. if it was indeed r**e that was said definitions 4 and or 5 could apply and not be sexual in nature at all. and even apply to the PvP environment.
EDIT : link dont work properly because it has the word in it so its censored out but go to the site and just type the word in.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.

I agree with about 90% of what you said....
What I will disagree with is it's not difficult to file a GM report. The rub is out of the hundred's of report's they get the vast majority of them don't even warrant an action.
This one boil's down to "WAA! i got my butt kicked in PVP so I shall commence whining"
When people decide when people REALLY need to be banned from the game based on behavior and report them maybe they won't have to wade through 100's of frivolous reports.

Me, too. But it seems fairly harmless and relatively mature so far, so I guess the mods are being light on it...

My guess is the mods are on vacation.
Given the Delta Rising news cycle, I can't say I blame them.

No offence to anyone just saying Codnoobkiller420 probably doesn't belong here.
Yes, even when there's no sexism involved at all.
