Offensive and misogynistic language

I was just in a PvP zone when a player from another zone announced in chat "welcome to the **** club, whos first?" Poor punctuation aside, I've reported the offender, and would like to encourage all of my fellow gamers to do the same when they see this kind of behavior. I'm not opposed to a bit of trash talk, but there's no room in this community for such blatantly sexist language.

    WELCOME TO STO'S PVP. If you don't get at least one person yelling for you to die then there is no pvpers around.

    I find it hard to believe that people playing a Star Trek video game online behind anonymity would say disparaging misogynistic things in public.

    if your asterisks stand for what I think they do, the fact that you think it only is offensive to one sex is the real sexist issue here...

    That's as far as I had to read to know what 's going on. Yeah it's an issue but the thing is, every MMO has it and that's not gonna change.

    STO is just where I see it the worst. I once played a MMO where pvp could mean the lost of items you payed real money for and you could be forced into a fight but players was still civil there.

    STO's pvpers are just some of the most foul mouthed toxic players around, ranking up there with CoD players.

    You might want to remember that a good share of players are actually adolescent males. They like to talk about all kind of things they havent experienced yet. Just ignore them. Let them puff up. It's a behaviour that usually disappears once they are in their early twenties. ;)

    As other people have said OP best to mute and move on, or in my case vape and laugh. The fact you say a bit of taunting makes me think you are a bit new to multiplayer pvp, as the well goes so much deeper. As a matter of fact I find STO bullies to be more behaved then standard players of other games I have played. Imagine if you were in a pvp zone and 7 other enemy players were parked right on the spawn point of your ship, and if they managed to blow you up enough times you would explode like a pinyata, as you are moved back into the spawn point while your gear gets picked up by the players. That's real pain.

    First of all, no one can see what he/she said behind your asterisks...

    Second, I am pretty sure it couldn't have been that offensive and for that matter... being overly Political Correct is a very serious problem we are facing not only in games but in the whole of society.

    Misogyny has no place anywhere. Not in games and not in real life. Anybody who says differently needs their head examined.


    Whenever I see someone post something so irredeemably stupid that I can't even look at it, I ignore them. Very simple. I don't play pvp, though, so my ignore list is still relatively short... The profanity filter works pretty well though. It's always nice not knowing what someone is talking about when they're trying to get a point across with strong language. :D

    For the life of me, I just can't replace those four asterisks with a word that would be misogynistic nor blatantly sexist...

    Interestingly enough, mind you - the fourth item returned for a Google search of welcome to the **** club, whos first? returned information about a LEGO robot fighting club. Quirky, eh?

    Fastest way to start filling up the ol' ignore list is not through PvP, but by rolling a Fed and spending more than 10-15s on ESD without turning off Zone.

    You sure it wasn't directed at SimCity or the well known company behind it? Cause when remembering the whole story from start till now, it's not that surprising....

    Yes... Those things are easily confused... The words "You" and "EA" are so easily mixed up because they look alike.

    The OP's quote is nothing compared to many comments you will find in zone chat.
    Discussions of child **** and how the TRIBBLE's did nothing wrong...etc

    Unfortunately, Cryptic/PWE won't do anything about behavior in this game unless it involves hacking.

    Anyone telling you otherwise is misinformed or lying.

    You can either use ignore or go jousting with windmills like Don Quixote.
