For the record all cloaks should have been "battle cloak" in the begining. We have seen KDF ships cloak in combat at times so at the onset there should have been only one type of cloak. But I am settleing for feds to have integrated cloaks like current KDF ships minus defiant since that at least should have the Battle cloak but the rest standard.
i'm not saying the op shouldn't be laughed at. i'm just saying the op is 1 post in this thread. you don't see 100 fed jumping up and down in this thread to agree with him. and i'm in the game most nights and i don't see 10,000 posts in chat by fed players demanding battle cloaks.
don't turn it into a bigger issue then it is: one person on a forum who wants something.
Look back through today's posts - there are four current cloaking for Feds threads. (really five, one is my pre-emptive phasic-EBC for Feds thread that I'm hoping gets itself locked so that it sets forum precedent)
It may only be a small section, but it is a small, annoying and persistent vocal section who give the rest a bad name.

and kdf and rom players have those same types of people on the forum. if you can't deal with them then simply don't go into their threads. it's your choice. you get to decide if you want to annoy yourself or not when you click the mouse.
Personally, I think all cloaks should be able to work in red alert. Having to wait till you are out of combat makes them significantly less tactically useful. I think that normal cloaks could be balanced to be weaker than battle cloaks by perhaps giving them a longer cooldown and/or longer period of vulnerability while transitioning to a cloaked state.

its just so fitting that the very same cloak feddies cried over for years as being so OP and such a huge advantage suddenly isnt very great at all... and you creampuffs havent even flown the ships yet
seriously, you guys are the running joke of sto.
As a primarilly Fed player... I kinda take offense at being called a creampuff and a running joke.
And welcome to the STO forums, where its normal for people to complain about one thing or another. If its not cloaks, its Tovan Khev. If its not Tovan... its something being OP. ex cetera and so on.
Its normal for complaints to be aired on the forums, so I always take 'em with a grain of salt.

you don't need a high iq to read a thread title. if the title is demanding fed cloaks and you can't take that with a grain of salt then simply don't go into it. it's not rocket science. there are plenty of threads i don't go into because i have no interest in what they're about.

For Romulans... anything involving the words Tovan and Khev put together.
For KDF... its lack of new stuff.
rom: point but only effects roms.
KDF: feds do that and have as much as the other two combined. and act like kdf do when fed ask for cloak when anyone else gets something and they don't. granted not as offend but still happens. a better pick would be asking for the rest of the melee weapons added... or saying feds shouldn't get cloak.

That's why I mentioned it. The guy asking for examples of non fed complaining wanted to know that. Why would "Only effects Romulans" disqualify it? People complained about being stuck with Tovan. People STILL hate Tovan.

yes I am one of them. simple if cryptic said fine you can dismiss him like every other boff in the game. what does the change for a fed. nothing. KDF: "whos tovan ?"
cloak that effects everyone granted the effect is somewhat migranted but roms having to pick a side but still effects everyone. someone who cares more can lists the reason why.
I prefer feeling smug I said one of these threads would pop up not a even week ago.

just as predicted. fed cloak isnt good enough, now you want battlecloak. obviously that wont be good enough either and feddies will be crying for enhanced battlecloak.

But of course, cause you know, non-battlecloak is useless..... which is why we never see people in mogh's, bort's, D7's and its cousins, Negh'var's and its cousins (etc. etc. etc. etc.) ever using their cloak.

you really couldn't have missed his whole point, could you?
his point is every faction has something someone in the faction constantly complains about. some small group of feds complain about cloaks. some small group of roms complain about toven, and so on.
if those conversations make you frustrated then simply don't read those threads. it's like a t5 connie thread. if you can't deal with them then don't go into them. you have the ability to choose where you go.

Indeed, if we took out anything that any small group of people complained abouit, STO as a game would consist of logging on and staring at a black screen..... though that would be getting removed as well at the next patch.

I'm not frustrated at this point it generates smug amusement the ships aren't even out yet and there is one these. how badly does someone play that they need bluffs before getting the the ships?
and how else is cyptic going to get alternate opinions... magic? cause I don't think they read minds... not that would actually help them.
the point is a bad one. you disagree so don't say anything? I would post my opinion on that thought but I afraid it may seem impolite.

You're lucky you even got cloaks when you shouldn't have gotten them to begin with.
Only reason the Federation have not used cloaking technology before - and let's face it, they developed the best cloak yet, refer to TNG - is that they had an agreement with the Romulan Empire not to use them...
Since the Romulan Empire is fractured and no longer exists, it would only make sense for the Federation to begin developing cloaking technology...

except they said they wouldn't... they lied clearly but it doesn't change the fact they did.

That was before Sela was abducted, the Tal Shiar took over, and the Republic was formed.
I believe in game events took care of the Treaty of Algeron pretty effectively.

this part?
After the revelation that Starfleet was testing a cloaking device, tensions between the Federation, Romulans and Klingons were at their highest point since the destruction of the Romulan homeworld in 2387. After a full inquiry, six members of Starfleet Security were court-martialed.
It took three months for Federation President Aennik Okeg to convince the Romulans and the Klingons to send representatives to a summit to discuss the situation. When the meeting finally began, Okeg made the Federation's position clear. He apologized for the experiments into cloaking technology, and said that he had signed an executive order banning all research into or creation of Federation cloaking technology.
"The narrow legal view may be that the Treaty of Algeron ended when Romulus was destroyed," Okeg said. "The Romulan Star Empire we knew is gone, and you are a new people. What has not changed is the Federation's commitment to peace." http://sto.gamepedia.com/Path_to_2409#Volume_16
as often as this treaty is brought up in feddie-cloak threads, its inevitable that cryptic will amend the story to justify their fed-cloak marketing (or use 'the section 31 clause'), but as it stands today...
i suppose somehow the romulans and the kdf are just going to ignore the fact that feddies are 'back at it again'.
eta: actually, the roms and kdf will likely be written to not just permit the feddie cloak, no they are going to condone it. perhaps even facilitate it. its those lovable feddies, after all.
100ec says cryptic will even address those years-old cloak bugs finally!
I have no problem with the way the fed limited cloak works, I just want them to be built in abilities for the limited number of ships that use them, not a console that needs to be put onto the ship
The basic cloak is outdated at this point. All basic cloaks should be battle cloaks.
*zips up flame suit*
This. Anything else is pointless, probably why I don't and haven't used for at least a year, the cloak on my Defiant.
The boost you get from a decloaking alpha strike isn't enough to warrant the constant dropping in/out of combat it would take to use it on a "normal" cloak.
"Go play with your DPS in the corner, I don't care how big it is." ~ Me "There... are... four... lights!" ~Jean Luc Picard
Battle Cloak is useless, too. I mean, when you want to fight, you have to decloak!
Everyone needs Enhanced Battle Cloak.
And even that isn't really good enough. What happened to the Scimitar Perfect Cloak. We should shoot each other from invisiblity!
Actually, speaking only for myself, I find the battle cloak very useful for escaping. It also makes setting up for multiple Alpha Strikes, actually practical. Then again, I don't and won't PvP so,...
I wouldn't turn down universal enhanced battle cloaks, though in my opinion, only 2 ships should have it, the B'rel and Scimitar,... I'm sure I'll get flamed for that one,... heh

What is the point of having a cloaking device on a ship that can only deploy outside combat?
In almost any situation, we are always in combat. It wouldnt be much of a game if it was not so. What then are we to do with this cloak? Depoly it at the beginning of a mission/ques event/pvp, decloak to get a short ambush buff... and then perform like a ship that has no cloak?
Make it a battle cloak, or dont give us a cloak at all. Non combat cloak will have pretty much no impact on gameplay.
Stop me if im wrong.
You should be glad that you got at least a cloak.
Now stop
