Game won't launch post patch

"Unable to initialize on-demand patching and connect to patch server: the connection was idle for too long."

Have never seen this before. Only thing different from when I played yesterday is the patch.

Gets to the Cryptic loading screen then gives the above message.

-Rule of Acquisition #113: Always have sex with the boss.
-I am one of the many victims from the hijacked Caspian Division.
I will not let the childish acts of a criminal ruin this game for me.
-The actions of Cryptic, on the other hand......

Its very bad when you start having dropped packets (lost or thrown away by the network) from the moment when your modem/gateway connects to the Internet...

If a Reboot/Power cycle of both your router and modem/gateway doesn't improve the condition, then you should contact your ISP Tech Support and have them send someone out to take a look at the unit...

Was thinking that may be the next step. What is odd is that this just happened all of a sudden. And the only thing that has happened from the last time I was able to play(wednesday) was the latest patch.

-Rule of Acquisition #113: Always have sex with the boss.
-I am one of the many victims from the hijacked Caspian Division.
I will not let the childish acts of a criminal ruin this game for me.
-The actions of Cryptic, on the other hand......

Do you have an explanation as to why my other mmo games work without so much as a hiccup? It is only Cryptic games I am experiencing this issue.

This is probably a question best left to your ISP... Though Cryptic games have a habit of using multiple network connections to its servers and not a single one, which makes them more sensitive to connection quality issues.. And unless those other games are located in the same physical location as the STO servers, their unlikely to suffer from the same connection route issues...

Actually multiple connections makes the network more stable. Cryptic has a habit of blaming their network/server instability on ISP's of the various players.

It is their servers that suck, their network sucks and their routers suck. How can you have a problem and blame it on an ISP.

Basic probability. Multiple chances of losing a connection among multiple connections is always greater then a single chance...

And you can't blame Cryptic servers and network, as with the exception of one outage last month, I've haven't had any issues from my Silicon Valley connection getting into STO...

ISP just switched me out to a newer box. Naturally that didn't resolve the issue. Waiting on phone again.

ISP confirmed packet loss after monitoring a speedtest from their end. Naturally they can't come out till Wednesday to check things out. Since everything but STO is working they claim the tech may say there is no issue.
