tgazzatgazza Member Posts: 9 Arc User
Hi ive been playing STO for must be a few years and i got my share of lag but untill recenly ive been getting massive lag spikes that last from anything upto 30 seconds. But as of yet i havent been thrown back to the log in screen

I've read up on the other thread that involves lag latency issues etc.. and did what it said. ive got the results of my Tracert and nettest results below..

Hmmm, the 'Trace Route' hints that there may be a issue with the Cogent Boston hub, but what we really need here is the 'Path Ping' results to check for dropped packets...

Not Good.... 'Path Ping' says that something is seriously wrong with your router, and bad enough to make all the other readings of dropped packets suspect...

If a Reboot/Power Cycle of your Router does not improve the condition, then you will have to contact your ISP and have them send someone out to take a look at the unit...

I rebooted my router and started up STO, so far everything seemingly going fine without much lag. But nothing like it was. I've forgotten how fast this game can be xD

thanks for the help much appreciated! :)

Idk if this is just a quick fix but tomorrow morning will be the real test since tonight ill be turning of my router for the time im sleeping. i think the bug/error came about when i stopped turning it off at night. but funny it only effected PWI games and not other games. oh well if i have the same problem tomorrow ill re-do the tests and repost here :P

Interesting. I'm on Virgin Media too and I've been having some problems the last few days with huge lag spikes.

It'll be fine for a while and then bam, anywhere from 500ms to 2 Second ping times, measured in-game with /netgraph 1

Keep this thread upto date with any problems please, just in case there is a correlation here.

Hi, i've had similar problems to this previously [see here] but i'm not sure if it's the same problem.

what I can say, is i'm getting lots of lag and SNRs again, and changed to the EU proxy again, and it seems fine. but i haven't had time to try this out for long.
