I strongly believe that these ships should be allowed to be upgrade with all the benefits of T6 ships. Players have put so much money into this lockbox system, to receive a small boost is a slap in the face.
Will new Lockbox/Lobi ships be T6? Leaving all the existing ones in the dust, will they be only T5U?
I open a lot of box, and plan to stop buying Zen if these ships become obsolete. I hope the Devs can foresee the loss of revenue from Lockbox keys if changes are not made.
Seriously, can we stop posting new threads that are the exact same complaints, or different flavors thereof, that were in the first dozen T5->T6 upgrade complaint threads?
All the hate (and the defenses) will fit in the existing ones just fine.
That is my thoughts exactly. I almost gave up on this game when they Nerfed the hell out of my Intrepid so that it was TOTALLY obsolete.**Cue the music** I got lucky on opening a Temporal lockbox and got a Wells. It took a long while but with grinding and earning a ton of EC i was able to purchase consoles that made this ship very serviceable.
My enemies got tons of advantages like Rommie stuff and Bug Ship but I didn't give up I kept refining my build even when the stupid OP bypass shields were unleashed by cloaked enemies in Kerrat. My friends that was the start of Point Click "BOOM". You could have full health feedback Pulse and Reverse Shield Polarity on and you went instantly "BOOM".
That was the day after 4+ years of playing in Kerrat religiously I almost walked away from the game completely. It was the uttermost and ridiculous thing ever my opponents could run around at speeds only a impulse capacitor could provide. They were immune to all holds and could easily out run any torpedo or even Sci ability used against them. I was certain it had to be a hack and would be dealt with within weeks. Well it is still going on.....
Now they want to up the power creep after nerfing my traits that I earned or bought. Just like all the Efficient Saurians I spent hundreds of millions of EC on. Rendered useless.....same thing with my Efficient Borg Officer that I had from day 1. It used to be Efficient stacked +5 to all power levels so that a full crew was at +25 to all power all the time.
Now here we go with T-5 and the zen we spent plus the fleet modules only to see them swept away in a sea of greed bum-rushing us like a tidal-wave. Will they be smart enough to avoid disaster with the lockbox ships by automatically making them T-6? Who knows?
I hate to give up on this game after nearly 5 years but I ain't about to go to the academy all over again and struggle through countless grinds just to be told ooopppss!!! Everything you ever worked for is TRIBBLE start over.... Homey don't play that.
I hope the space consoles and ground weapons from the lobi stuff scales up and the rep items ii wasted my life grinding for or **** this game. I'm sick of this updates destroying everything I worked for. With so many new games giving me what I want and this one possibly taking it away it's like, who cares now. Hundreds of people i've known have quit this past year with changes, none appear to be coming back when I talk to them on Steam.
The stats are released The Intel ships only have 10 consoles but a brand new fancy LTC slot bringing them to a total of 2 plus a CDR BoFF. THAT is a big Upgrade. The Cruiser with A2B will be a beast. The Scim will still be the big boy on the block though.

Yup, essentially its a trade off between that fancy boff configuration and an extra console.
A T6, it seems to me, is likely to be on a par with a T5U provided it was a ten console ship to begin with.
Nine console starting T5U's will be at a disadvantage, to the point where I'm not sure its worth upgrading them.
The T6 fleet looks like it will blow away all T5u ships. I still plan to try and keep flying my old ships though just because I prefer them. I think it will be in the ballpark with plain T6 until the fleet versions come out.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."

We don't know if we can upgrade say something like my Vesta Class to:
a Tier 5.5 or Tier 5U
Then after Delta Rising we can do a Fleet version of the Tier 5.5/T5U with 12 consoles and more hull/shields. Even maybe a full Tier 6 upgrade to a Vesta...
But we really don't know what the end goal is for the ships at this time.
They also said "of course" higher tier ships will be more powerful.
Funny because it has the potential to completely wreck pvp and be pointless for pve - assuming pve maps will remain hilariously easy.
Since I don't pvp I am mainly just interested in flying what I like and don't need every ½% ship hp to stay "competitive".
So as a pve I will say no thanks to upgrading my t5 and no thanks to unofficial or fake ships and were I a pvp'er I'd not enjoy the idea of being forced into a tier of fake avatars 3 years later.
Is also a question of what tier in lockboxes, what tier winter event ship, what stats for drops vs old fleet gear etc. etc. etc.
They really not posting any info, maybe they behind schedule but everything seems to bring up 50 new questions

Good point.
Fleet T6, presumably, will get an extra console wiping out the advantage a ten console T5U ship has over a standard T6.
TBH though, what worries me more about that is that they may be locked away behind very high levels of fleet holdings.
Given that ships are the one thing that an invite to a friendly starbase wont help you with, I'd hate to see fleet T6s restricted only to large, established fleets.

My guess is that there won't be any further upgrades. If so I'll still see if I can enjoy the new content with my old ships for as long as possible.

Same, Right now I'll only have to pay for 1 upgrade, my Fleet Avenger. My Mobius and TSAB will get a free upgrade. My Mobius with the Aeon Skin is the sexiest ship in the game IMHO and outside the Guardian, the new ships are horrendous looking as usual.

I take it you believe in the flying spaghetti monster, too?
You know the "bonuses" of t5@6 ships over t5 will be broken...it's how cryptic runs
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
T5-U11 > T6 > T5-U10 > T5-10 > T5-9
Until they release more info about the T6 ships...they haven't done a thing to sell folks on them.
They sold me I'm buying one or more.
How did they sell you? Do you like the look of the ship or something?
So you really REALLY really SHOULD trust them on this.
They are a honest company, so you should trust them, so just stick with the T5U, and you will be able to fully compete with anyone having a T6.
