Quick-Equip Frustration

Is there any way to turn off the game's 'quick-equip' feature? For some stupid reason, it keeps trying to register single-clicks as double-clicks and equip items that I don't want equipped - this is a serious problem when it does this while I'm trying to move loot items (white quality, especially) to the replicator for recycling and it switches them with something I have equipped on my captain or ship already and since I'm just trying to clear inventory space, I'm not paying attention...

And it's gotten on my last nerve.

Purple quality shield, lost it on a character.

Nearly lost a purple melee weapon on a character, noticed it just in time.

Nearly lost a piece of Nukara Rep equipment, noticed it just in time...

Today, however, is the last blasted straw - Freaking 'quick-equip' replaced my Romulan Adv. Prototype Covariant Shield with a while piece of junk and I ended up losing it.

One of two things needs to go; either the auto-clearing of the 'Retrieve' tab when ever a map-change happens, or we need to be able to turn off things like 'Quick-equip' that are - quite frankly - more trouble than they seem to be worth most times.

I'm also assuming that my gear mysteriously unequipping itself is related to this new feature. In the years i've been playing i've NEVER had a piece of gear just up and move from my ship to the inventory. And i'm not some scatterbrain with short term memory problems either. wait did i unequip that piece? i coulda sworn i had it on, maybe i unequipped it by accident BLAAAAAAAAAA sorry! wrong, your game is the one that unequipped it.

I'm actually afraid that they wont bother reverting the change. I remember when they first changed the quest log to auto minimize/maximize whenever you hovered over it. Then shortly after that the quest log started to stutter. Now i'm seeing the exchange interface stutter, scanning event molecules, and doff interface stutter. It's been going on for i dont know how many months now? that's what i'm afraid is going to end up happening with the new inventory/gear manager.

One could argue that people just need to be careful about what they vendor, but i dont need the fricking game to make accidental vendoring of gear any easier.

Why are u putting stuff in the replicator u get more for it from bartenders or most vendors. If u realy wont to put it in the replicator right click then discard then it wont auto equip.

Yeah, your first big mistake is to put things on the replicator... :P, i dont think too many people do that.. specially when you get nothing for doing that. As people said, just discard em. You will get even more that placing em in the replicator.

I stopped 'double clicking' on my inventory stuff about a week after this change hit.
    'Drag-n-Drop' is now my BFF.

(and all the Bartenders except the Ferengi, will give you half of the EC value of any item)

...Because I'm not discarding the loot items for money, I'm discarding them because I don't need them and don't need the money. And because a lot of times, I'm doing this in the middle of missions where there aren't vendors anyway.

So? whats the difference between right click->discard and dragging it into the replicator? or it is "easier" for you to drag it to the replicator instead (apparently not since you having a lot of issues)? its ok if you dont want the money (actually , right now, with the EC nerf it does not make any difference) but i dont see the problem.

Never encountered this problem, perhaps there is an issue with your mouse. Is there another mouse that you can use to try and replicate the problem?

The reason why I say it might be a mouse issue is because I decided to temporarily switch to a wired mouse when my wireless mouse's battery died. Once I switched to the wired mouse I had some instances where my ship comes to a complete stop in space which is particularly annoying since it always happens in an eSTF during combat.

I isolated the cause to the mouse wheel. For some reason sometimes touching the mouse wheel (even lightly) brings my ship to a halt. Switching back to my wireless mouse eliminated that annoyance.

but i dont see the problem.

The problem is that the quick-equip function keeps 'quick-equipping' things without being told, that's the problem.

Not "where to sell unwanted loot".

Not "How to get the most money for items"

Not "Replicator versus right click to discard"

Not anything that people seem to be focusing on. The problem is that the game is quick-equipping items without actually being told to do so and without any notice that it's done so, leaving players suddenly discovering at the worst times that they don't have their Romulan Space Set bonuses or Jem'hadar Ground Set bonuses or [Pla] Personal Shields because the game unequipped those items. It doesn't just happen when discarding items, it's happened when simply moving items around in the inventory, or trying to move items from inventory to Bank or Account Bank. That it did it when discarding items is merely what made me consider that 'quick-equip' should be made optional instead of a non-choice.

That's a possibility, but I can't be sure. I play on a laptop and my 'mouse' is the built-in touchpad and buttons. I don't think I've ever actually used an actual seperate mouse to play the game with... But that does give me an idea to check that laptop's mouse settings for...

Personally, I despise the quick equip function, I have never been able to use it effectively and I would LOVE the ability to disable it. As a work around, most of the quick equip windows have an x button you can click to close them. Also, you can drag them way off to the opposite side from your inventory and move your character/ship close to the inventory window.

Its not ideal, but so far it has saved me a lot of trouble. Also, instead of using the drag method, when I open the recycler, I get a popup window with all my inventory and I just need to scroll down past the end mats to see my actual items which I can then sell from a window that doesn't have an equip option.

I hate the quick equip system also! If I am trying to show someone in chat what I am using, this annoyance pops up. It takes a second to drag and drop something to replace another on a ship. I do wish there was a way to completely disable this unwanted feature.

I'm a bit confused as to what you're actually doing. The quick equip window only appears if you click on a piece of gear on your Status screen that is already equipped. What do you mean "move to the replicator?" The replicator is accessed from a button in the inventory and then you go to the Sell tab of the window that pops up and discard stuff from there. It isn't possible to equip gear from this tab.

THIS. I bloody hate this. The UI has no distinction between a single click and Ctrl+Click or double click and it's TRIBBLE.

Yeah, considering I've never used the blasted 'Quick-Equip' I had forgotten about it until people were specifically talking about it. 'Auto-Equip' is probably a more accurate word - the whole "Double-click item in your inventory to equip it" junk - to describe where the problem is... though it seems 'Quick-Equip' is also a problem as well.

And items can be recycled simply by dragging them to the replicator button in your inventory, without needing to actually open the replicator - hence "Move to replicator".

Quite frankly, 'Quick-Equip', 'Double-click Equip'.... it seems like most of the stuff they claim is to make things "easier to use" just makes them a blasted pain instead.

Ah I see. I'm not sure if I was aware of such a feature. I would still find it easier to bulk recycle things from the replicator window because it would require less work. Either way though, neither double-click-to-equip nor the quick-equip menu can be disabled. :(
