Overall I like the game or, lets face it, i wouldn't play it. But call it a pet peeve or whatever, there is one little thing that has annoyed me in the time I have played this game. Even mentioned to my friends, if i could somehow reach into the server and change just one tiny thing about STO I would make it so I could search for Doffs by trait. Tired of wading through 300 listings of doffs just to find one resolve or telepathic or whatever I need at the time.
Just for curiosity's sake if you could change one small thing about STO (note, small thing, not major changes) Just one small thing.. if you could what would you change?

I have quite a few pet peeves; but if we are talking small things... I guess ranks.
I'd make display rank selectable; so that NPC dialogue, and the game UI, use the rank I have selected instead of the rank that conforms to my level.
I'd still have level itself displayed normally to avoid unnecessary confusion; so, for example, if I selected 'Captain' as my rank, it would say 'Captain 50' instead of 'Vice Admiral 50' up in the corner of the screen.
Hmm, I might just reduce some of the more over the top UI elements in battle
Sometimes theres a lot going on, the ships glow random colours, and lights and shapes come up, can be distracting sometimes.
Maybe I'd make it so theres a client side option for beam colours, I'm a bit of a Canon Damage type guy, I like to see phasers on Fed ships not Anti Proton beams, but thats really just nitpicking

Interface lag. When I press a button I expect it to bloody work. It shouldn't take 12 clicks of the mouse or 6 mashes of a keyboard button for a skill to activate during heated combat.
But really I could write pages upon pages of text about the dozens of small QoL issues in this game that add up to an annoying whole.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

when you think of all the action the exchange gets you would there would be a lot more search filters so I would agree it certainly could user an overhaul, the mail system could do with some extra features also.

Good news! When you're assigning DOffs now, you can click "Select" on the DOff assigned, then use the filters to select DOffs with specific abilities! Even better, the abilities needed for a given mission are highlighted in green at the top of the list!

On topic, I'd put the old doff system back in place. It is the reason I play (other than the current CC event) less than an hour a week now.
Filters in the exchange for BOffs/DOffs would be good. Fixing the multiple presses to get a skill to work would really be nice. Trashing the loadout system is also a thought. Reduced grind on the R&D system would be excellent. Non random item outcomes in the R&D system on top of that would be awesome. Fixing the graphics issues and prioritizing character weapon fire to show in the event the game engine has to drop some things really kind of has to happen. If I sat here a while longer I'm sure I could come up with many other things that would be nice, but I'd let all of that slide if the old DOff system came back.

I think it's getting worse especially when there's too much stuff going on. The event version of CE is a parade example for this. With all the stuff added to the mission sometimes skills don't activate at all regardless how much you mash your button.
Want to use EPTE now? Well, too bad.... maybe it works 2 mins later.....
