    Easter egg?
Neelix and his wife Dexa have gathered hundreds of Talaxians together to create a community, and that community is expanding. They have great plans for the future, but they may need assistance to see them come to fruition.
Maybe a cameo at least with Neelix? :D

I love these lore blogs! I only wish there was some way to access them in-game ...

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Neelix will also grant a covert/stealth debuff of -100% because you can smell him coming from sectors away.

    ~CaptainSmirk

I'll be honest, I would pay real dollars for a Neelix boff with "Attack Pattern Neelix" that just makes the ship explode when used.

    Can we kill Neelix?

Because, seriously, I don't want to even HEAR of any of these three species in STO. The Kazon are the worst villains ever, Neelix is a lethal threat to himself and everyone around him, and the Ocampa make no biological sense whatsoever.

    More Neelix fails.

In fact, I dare say that the inclusion of these three species in STO WITHOUT a substantial amount of tongue-in-cheek references to the epic fail that each species is will dramatically lower the overall quality of the game.

Let's hope that the mysterious bad guys, whatever Borg we end up fighting, and the Iconians (if they ever show up) are less epic in their general failure.

Then again, the Borg DID almost manage to assimilate Earth multiple times and assimilated Picard, and the Iconians have been playing the galaxy for saps for decades, so I suppose that there's really no way they can be as epic fail as the Kazon, Talaxians, and Ocampa. Because they've already succeeded at something.

I really wish Cryptic would either address the ship upgrade issue (at least to issue a verbal guarantee that current T5 lockbox/lobi/fleet/c-store ships or some specified subset thereof WILL be upgradeable at a price cheaper than buying T6 from scratch... even if no further details are given) or would have waited to announce that in the first place.

Do you people realize that the exchange sale prices of certain lobi and lockbox ships have crashed by 20-25% in the last two weeks? Because either nobody wants them or everyone is dumping previous stockpiles, or both, I'm not sure. But as a fairly new player who was desperately trying to sell everything in sight (not due to theoretical future value reductions but in order to make a major purchase myself... as if nothing was going on)... it HURTS when you spend 800 lobi to pick up a lobi ship (the day before the con started), the single most valuable item (by 4x the EC!) that you have ever owned.... post it on the exchange, and then see the price drop from 140 million to 105 million in TEN DAYS.

And that can be laid EXACTLY at the fact that Cryptic released the bombshell of T6 ships... and NO further information whatsoever... (except for stating that the JHAS will be upgradeable!)

now im hoping the t6 ship info doesnt come out until it absolutely has to. players have gotten way too greedy on the lobi ship box market over the years, free reign for years on it, and now they are getting the boot instead of everyone else for a short time, i dont mind this because if it hurts them, then they should realize not everyone is going to enjoy paying absurdly inflated prices for something like that. if any agrees or not i frankly dont care, but from my own point of view, the bug ships were worth around 150m to 300m originally and then they surpassed the 500m mark and some asking for 1bln credits until recently for such a ship. the other large lock box ships were worth around 65m to 110m ec originally and some have since gone as far as 200m to 300m or more. escorts and shuttles that were around 20m 30m or 40-55m for each have reached around 100m as well.

the way i see it if it hurts the sellers that they dont like selling low, imagine how someone else asked to pay extortionate prices feels. eventually those prices will come back into range and people will start buying them off so its not a complete loss, i mean even 150m credits i still a great deal and nothing to be sneezed at.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I am not complaining. I find it hilarious the Cryptic gave us three useless blogs after the whole Las Vegas weekend. None of the blogs addressed any concertn players have or had.

I find this to be like dangling a banana while telling us. There is something new coming repeatedly.

They have said multiple times that the new ship systems and upgrades for existing ships, and how they work, aren't finalized yet. You are basically upset that they aren't telling you how something that doesn't yet exist is supposed to work.

I don't believe that. Cryptic seems to have at least a modicum level of talent and actually tries to make a good product, unlike the Voyager writers, who were apparently incapable of writing fiction and had no apparent care for their work.

What's going on; the News article on the main page is saying it was updated "Fri 15 Aug 2014 05:04:51 PM PDT"... But there's no new information accessable; the only information is the same pages for Talaxian, Kazan and Ocampa that were there already...

Yeah, there several things you can easily deduce from this new blog.

With Talaxians, they will likely be our Ferengi of the Delta Quadrant and we will very likely run into Neelix.

We could likely run into Kes and aid the Ocampans to find a new home (probably help rebuild Ocampa if the North is unlocked).

And the 99.9% chance the new Maje is Cullah and Seska's son. Though why they are in the Southern Delta, yet to be revealed.

    Attention!

With Delta Rising on the horizon, Starfleet Command has begun releasing security briefings on some of the species you will encounter in our expansion. This week, Ensign Level Access has been unlocked, revealing details on the Talaxians, Kazon, and Ocampans. You can find links to the intelligence briefing on these species in our Starfleet Intelligence report found here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/6007573

As more Access Levels are unlocked, we will be updating this security file. Stay tuned for information on more species that you'll encounter!

Right, the species that produced the most useless person in the galaxy, the species whose reproduction should have rendered them extinct centuries ago, and the species that is so rock-stupid even the Borg don't want them.

To all who voted for VOY in the poll: Gee, thanks.

    Thank you for the blog.

But the one piece of information I wanted to know is:
    Are these species playable?
I've been waiting for ages to get an Ocampan Science Officer and am hoping this expansion will finally make that option a reality.
Also, it would be nice to be able to readily acquire some Telekinetic DOFFs, because there aren't enough Vorta to go around and they appear to be all science DOFFs anyway.
I've been wanting Telekinetic Assault Squad Officers and Security Personnel for quite some time.

I'm also wondering if the Romulan Republic will be seeking the Ocampans as allies?
The blog said that they feel empathy for the Ocampans and wish to give them aid.

    And what about the Hirogen?
I'm hoping that is in an pending update.
And I'd also like them to be playable, that's another one I've been eagerly anticipating, my very own Hirogen tactical!
Especially since I have the Hirogen lockbox ships ready to go, a very nice Mk12 Destablized Tetryon Rifle and the lobi on hand to buy the Hirogen armor (complete with costume options).
It would be great to have an actual Hirogen to use all that stuff.

It would be nice to have a Predator class carrier, I've always liked that ship.
But would it be a universal ship (all factions) or would it require a playable Kazon to command one?

When we do the Delta Quadrant storyline will we get a Thalaxian bridge officer who is more annoying than Neelix, who comments the Captains decisions all the time, is always on the bridge and who cannot be dismissed?

Unfortunately, the Hirogen are deeply tied into the Romulan Star Empire as allies, and are unlikely to be playable because of that.

Ocampans and Talaxians however might be playable though. Lord knows we need more races for the republic to play.
