Gonna start doing some Undine ESTFs for some R&D mats, but only thing that i've done for ground was the leveling stuff. I have Omega, Nukara, and Romulus all at tier 5, Dyson is 3 days from tier 5 and Undine is just about to hit tier 2.
I'm going to start looking at all the gear stats, but i wanted to see what you all had to say too. Also what kind of weapon type would be best for Undine ground? not damage type but weapon type (rifle v pistol v minigun v shotgun). If it makes any difference my toon is a Romulan Tac. So i was leaning more towards Rom-plas ground weapon to take advantage of my racials.
For undine ground??? any weapon will sufice, since there are not undine stfs on ground (combat i mean). lol for weapon types, split beam riffles, sniper riffles and pulse waves are the way to go. For almost everything.
And yes, if yo have a romulan, you will have the plasma weapon specialist trait, so i will strongly recommend you to go with a plasma pulse wave as primary medium range weapon. Then you can gather a plasma split beam rifle or a sniper one to have 2 weapons with total different range purposes.
What about armor and shields?? i just checked and i thought that Romulus also had a ground set but i guess not. Looks like just Omega, Maco and Dyson for me (Dyson in a few days). I thought there was an adapted KHG ground set, but i guess adapted is only for space?
For Undine Ground STFs, there exists only one, and there are barely any Undine, nor do they put up all that much of a fight. I have no real difficulty blasting through with my guns dropped from a random rep box and my Solanae suit and white XI shield I found on the floor of the Voth BZ. Undine are not characterized by any particular strengths in ground combat.
Colony Invasion has Undine randomly appears but these a PVE ground battle. There is one at Bajor really fun Undine mission. I say you fight the Undine you use Undine ground weapons which are anti-proton base. I wish I had a bag of marbles and just throw on the ground and watch the 3 footed Undine they would loose their footing and fall down.

I know doing the splits with 2 legs hurts like hell, can you just imagine how it must be with 3 legs? :P
Yeah I always forget about Colony Invasion, the Undine are a actually a little tougher there than Infiltration (still believe Breen are the hardest enemy in CI). For Infiltration elite, I ran it a few times on my fresh level 50 sci using nothing but purchased IX common weapons and kit modules, with my best piece of gear being mk X rare energy dampening armor, and had no issue whatsoever. It's not a tough PVE in any sense -- you certainly don't need a ground set dedicated to it.
That said, if you're Romulan, run plasma weapons. Take advantage of that specialist trait. It's a shame I can't really recommend you get a piercing beam rifle anymore because they're incredible. (You can still try out the IX common from the New Romulus command EC vendor, though) The Romulan plasma weapons you get from the reputation are still great.
For the Undine space elite STFs I use nothing more than vendor trash and free gear received from the main story line missions in the free T5 Sovereign class heavy cruiser.
For the Undine ground elite STF the only thing special that I use are the "free weapons" I have received when doing the Omega Rep system. Ground elite is pretty easy. I can't image how much more easier it would be in the normal version.

Yah i did a few undine ESTFs last night and afterwards i was like o.O
They were kinda easy...the only thing that threw me off were the randomized optionals.
Well... Undine Assault seems be the most difficult of the three elite STF. Especially since the instructions provided by Admiral Tuvok is not very clear.
I will mention that the "normal" Undine STF queues are basically dead so I started immediately with elite. The first two times I played Undine Assault Elite I must have been with a very high DPS group because it was literally a cakewalk and I had no idea what I was doing because all the objectives were being completed too quickly to understand what was going on.
The 3rd time I played was very rough. After playing for more than 30 minute none of the rifts were closed and people started leaving the STF. It was during this 3rd play through that I realized the players are supposed to protect the command ship and it is only the command ship that can close the primary rifts.
The reason why I stated Admiral Tuvok's instructions were not clear is because I don't remember him stating that the command ships had to be protected because they are the only ships capable of closing the primary rifts. I did not even know the command ship existed in the STF until I notice the ship with the strange icon above it.

And no, there currently isn't a Ground Set for the Romulans (just two almost identical Space Sets) apparently Romulans don't yet deserve one.
Time will only tell!

Actually it's not a bad shield for regular PvE either. It has a very high regen rate.
