Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
...but, but, but i have 705 lobi now... I only need another hundred. I can stop any time I want to. I just don't need to stop... Everyone else is doing it. It's not like it's illegal.
I have a system. Between lockboxes I build up zen, ec and lobi crystals (mostly without spending real money). Before a new box drops they do a key promotion, I use the zen to buy keys. When the new box drops, I open as many as I can, helping build up my lobi resources.
- If I win the lockbox ship, I then buy the Lobi ship with EC (I almost always want both). That allows me to buy the special consoles or armor or whatever with Lobi.
- If I don't win the lockbox ship, I buy the Lobi ship with Lobi and try to build up enough EC by selling the other stuff from the lockbox to buy the lockbox ship off the exchange.
Of course, if I don't want the ships, like with the Elachi box, I just keep the currency in the bank and wait.
I used it like that save up enough to get boxes open but all the time it was pretty mediocre from what you get...
If I could vote out Lobi to get stuff on the zen store I would but then they had to remove the dilithium conversion unit or make an change to it that you can convert zen to dillitium but not the other way around. If that had to be done to get rid off the lobi store I would vote yes instead of no... What about you ??

The only thing I don't like about the Lobi store is the fact that it has consumable devices. Consumables that confer very very little benefit to using them and only serve as a sink for a very premium currency.
As for the lockboxes, personally I only open 1 of each type of lockbox when a new one is introduced. It's like my lotto ticket just for fun. Every now and then I'll open a few stacks of boxes to get enough lobi for a console or set but that's as far as I go.

With the Dil store gone. So this will have me using dil for Zen points. Thus to use on store purchases. I have a couple items to buy. After that, I got a large stock pile of boxes. So I will use the Dil on those. Since the keys are far too expensive for me to buy with EC.

Thinks keys are too expensive in ec. Has no problems using keys bought with zen. Average sto player in a nutshell.

Its far easier to grind out the Dil than the EC at least for me. All my time playing I have yet to hit the EC cap and needed to expand it. Even now I'm not even close to it. This is why I was using Dil for gear from the store. Its easier to grind out.
To answer any question on using the Exchange. Every time I put something up worth value. It never sold. So it ended up going to vendor.

yeah, I use one of two philosophies when listing on exchange. If it's an item I'm not expecting to acquire more of soon, if ever, I'll list it at a price approximately equal to the current listings. If I want to sell it quickly, I look up the current listings and sell for slightly less.

610 lobi at the moment. I just don't know if I actually want any of the lobi ships. . .

Been in the same position, but I still hoard lobi.
Play game, gather resources, parlay resources into keys, open boxes, stash lobi.
It can come in handy.
Like this summer, when I had to miss most the summer event.
The lobi stash meant cruiseliners for everyone.
Huh ?? No I ain't sir, just point out I wish they never invented it

Plus I said if I could vote on it, I already know it wont happen but nobody said it is against rules to dream about it

I'm fond of the lobi store.
In a big game like this its good to have things to strive for, not easily attained.

I second the witch burning. Jeff turned me into a newt.
Did you get better?
Plenty of goodness in the lobi store.
All depends on what you want.
As for UR, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of that soon enough, given the recent changes to the various filters ingame.

Economics does not work that way.
I did indeed.
I do it for the lobi mostly. That way if we get a new ship for the winter/summer/grindaversary/etc. and I want it, I can get it more quickly.
It's also fun. Sometimes you get really cool stuff.

I use my lobi crystals for bound items like the wrist lance, which is nice for new characters (and pretty fun to use).
