if you plan on levelling an alt. you can at least use crafting to get them weapon types you cant normally get at low levels, thus you can run AP/transphasic builds from level 1-50. and it'll net some XP.
Oh yeah, it'll be worth it too: cheapest Omni Beam sells for about 40 million EC
That monopoly will soon be over and price competition will kick in since it seems 95% of players chose beams. Doing what everyone else does, bad business, specially since beams are the least good item devs added.

On the upside, it's probably a great time to level a new alt with a beamboat
I've got all 7 schools running among four characters. I'll be ready to go wherever I'm needed. Or at least I will be in 3-4 months when they start hitting Lv. 15. Or I could always dump a bunch of Zen into the dil exchange and level myself up right now. Wooooooo, paying to win baby!
well. its pritty simple but will cost you load's of EC.
if you have multyple projects just craft mark 12 items.
buy the components you cant craft. this will give you 3000 xp. wil take 5 hours pro item.
the 20 hour one gives you 6000 max 7000 as far i have noticed. meaning 10 hours on 1 crafting slot will give you the same. and you still got 10 hours left.
so why not use those to craft once again
got to warn you tough.. the components are not cheap.
At one time you could run multiple 20 hour missions for the same skill. Someone could level a particular school much faster that way.
As it stands now, it takes dilithium to really "power level" the skills.
Energy credits can trim some time off of things (buying either the components to make higher level items or buying the raw materials to make the rare components), but not as much as dilithium can.
And I suppose if you spend zen on the crafting boxes you may find something to help you speed things along, too, but I don't really know what is inside those.
Just pick the highest Mark console that you have materials and make components for that won't take longer to finish for the period of time that you'll be logged in for. Before your logout kick off the research task.
If you are willing, at least your own benefit, record the materials that you generally get for each different mission and location. Eventually you'll be wanting a certain material and wanting to know likely where to get it.
That's my 2 EC.

Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

Yah I was trying to make some items the other day and the one Mat I needed and they had them for way over price. I figure I keep doing the daily xp grind mission until I get up there and that newness wears off and I can afford proper material or find them (it's the purple ones for higher end gear) in drops some where.
Yeah long time KDF players are mostly in tier 5 starbases now so with nothing really for the KDF since the mogh a few months shy of a year ago now lol. We have nothing really to spend it on but crafting unless they actually come out with something but KDF ships with dev relationship we get one about half of a percent of the time they claim we will get one so I doubt we will be getting any KDF specific ships this year. Much less anything to spend dilithium on besides gearing more alts.

Atm, the mkvi yields promising results. 600 an hour. It appears to be the best route of you can be on every hour to reset it.
My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
It awards the least xp per hour, but the biggest chunk of xp.
During the week, I've been running short junk crafts in beam, cannon and engineering, then just before I log off I run a 20 in all 3 schools.
As dahminus says mk vi is good if you can be on once an hour (which real work precludes me from during the week).

Some seem to have had too much dilithium^^
actually.... phaser ones are on sale for 27 mil.

Oh, well that changed quick. Maybe because they are phasers :P
As time goes in, there will be more and more people dinging lvl 15. Prices will plummet in the following months
