What good are particle traces?

I have a huge inventory of particle traces. What good are they now? Should I sell them?

Don't sell them. You can convert them to R&D materials for the new system:
    • Put any particle trace in your inventory.
    • Right-click on the particle trace in your inventory, and select "Use".
    • You will get a menu where you can "buy" random stacks of R&D materials with the particle traces in your inventory and your bank.
    • As you get R&D materials, they appear in a separate R&D tab in your inventory.

I just finished doing this with my 12 characters. It can be a bit time consuming -- you can only turn in 100 particle traces at a time.

That's not intended as a complaint. For something that will only be used once, it works well enough.

Thanks. Do you get good R&D materials?

Traces can only be traded for "random' gifts. You'll get common, uncommon, or if lucky, rare.

I tried what bberge1701 suggested but it appears that the use option is no longer available. Was that a limited time option?

Try again. Option worked for a character that I had sitting around.

Item has to be in inventory.

    Right click, select use.

If you recently moved them from the bank or mail the "use" might not be available. If you split a stack/zone/relog/change instance it will refresh the inventory and realize that is a convertible item.
