How to inspect other people's boffs abilities and gear
Step 1
Go to
gateway.startrekonline.com and log in with your star trek account.

Step 2
Select one of your toons.

Step 3
Replace your nick name and toon name with the player's one you want to inspect in the red circle:

voila! you can select from the right menu what you want to see about that person: ship gear, boffs abilities, personal gear, accolades and in what fleet he/she is.

Im sure it does, so i guess this thread is going to be closed eventually.
No, there's no identifiable information there beyond what's already visible in game, only gameplay information. It's an intentional but undocumented feature of the gateway. If you notice, you have access to less information on other people's characters than you do on your own.
LET THE SPYING BEGIN !!!!
_insert evil laughter here_
edit
ammm... op ..whats ur in game name?
muhahhh
Everyone has better kit than me.
You can hide yourself in your privacy options.
I dont think people likes others to see their personal character information. So, for the same reason, it should be applied the same rules as the general policy.
No, because it's one of game mechanism.
Why Cryptic stuff should close thread about one of their own systems and one of its option?
If you don't want your char build being visible at Gateway you can all ways hide it by ingame privacy options.
Because i dont think that "feature" is "intended".
Yeah i didnt know you can hide it. Now it makes sense lol.
Good luck trying...
I guess hardcore PVPers may look at each other's gear if they got a grudge....but that's a bit silly.
So glad to see that STO has this feature, and I would never have known if it weren't for this thread. Again, akpa, thanks.

"The Buddy System is essential to your survival; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at."
Why did I assume exactly that? Oh yeah, experience from previous encounters.
Posting before informing, standard procedure for certain people...
Pretty much.
i understand that you have a good opinion about yourself, but i dont think that is going to happen.
Nothing wrong with it.
Yup you right, and quoting me when there is no need at all is a common behaviour of certain people, i just have the experience from previous encounters..
Neverwinter exchange, bank etc. works on the same engine as STO, and they can be correlate with NW Gateway. Real problem is STO Team not system, they simply like to release not finished things as we saw many times in past (and will see in near future: alpha stage crafting going live on holodeck, not even beta but rough alfa) and leave them that way, fixing only most critical bugs just enough to keep system working.
milking the cashcow...that's what is about in f2p mmos nowdays...i blame the aliens
Unfortunately yes. What's worst some f2p MMO don't understand that upgrading/repairing old content can give them additional profits. Now players have the-only-one-proper-ship in C-store when older are just weaker then the-only-one. So players spend only 2.5k Zen for that ship and don't buy anything else. In situation when older ships get upgrade and become equal to the-only-one players won't buy one ship for 2.5k, they will probably buy 2 or 3 such ships just to try which one is most comfort for their play-style.
Like the Patrol Escort?
Well I guess it does need to be advertized a lot more.
