Romulan or Reman space set? Which hangar fighter?

I'll finally getting close to being ability to buy a Romulan or Reman space set in a few weeks for my Romulan character and I was wondering which would be the better of the two? I'm using a fleet Ar'kif with elite swarmers as pets but I also have ultra rare yellowstones. Would the ultra rare scorpion fighters be the best choice for the hangar when I reach tier V to buy them also?

From the mentioned sets only the romulan impulse engine is worth getting, everything else is inferior to other combinations/sets.
Swarmer are the most powerful universal pets damagewise, even stronger than yellowstones and scorpions, so you are good there.

I thought the Reman shield was one of the best? I guess I always thought of a "set" to buy because of the other abilities you gain when you have all 3 items. Anyone care to share their preferred deflector, shield and engine combo I wouldn't be opposed to that option either.

There isn't much difference between the Reman and Romulan Space sets. There is a slight color/pattern chance with the Romulan shield. And the major differences is in the stat bonuses. The Romulan set is geared to enhancing the detection of cloaked ships (a peception bonus and bonus to Starships Sensors). The Reman set is geared toward better cloaking. Othewise the set stats are the same.

The sets bonuses have also been changed. The old set 3 piece set bonus (the extra shield capacity) is now a part of the Shield itself. The new 3 piece bonus is an Active power which reduces damage to you shield for 15 seconds. And does a shield power transfer with Energy weapons -51 to foe and +51 Shield powe to you for the same period.

If you are going to be using High Yield Plasma Torpedo ability and/or the Romulan Rep Hyper Plasma Torpedo Launcher, using at least the 2 piece set for the speed and defense bonuses are worth it.

Since no one mentioned it, it's been possible to mix and match pieces of this set since season 9. I run Romulan engines and Reman everything else. Those engines are the only part I found worthwhile to buy back when I cared about having "the best" gear.

To be honest, I only run the set because I impulse bought it the other two pieces (previously only had the engines) during New Romulus weekend and because I like the light RP element of my Romulan using Romulan/Reman gear. It's pretty underwhelming, I do like the high yield improvements, got me using those a lot more.

There are 4 good things about the Romulan / Reman Space Sets.

    1. Reman Shields have an eye-catching appearance for any ship. Romulan Shields make you wonder if you have appearance turned on.

    2. Romulan Engines have a potent boost to Starship Attack Patterns.

    3. Romulan Deflector is good towards Stealth Detection. It has the same 2% Stealth Sight bonus as the Jem'Hadar Deflector Mk XII, and that has a reputation for good detection. Of course, this is only a PVP thing and you need to do other things to become a good stealth detector.

    4. The deflectors are very strong in Graviton Generators and Subspace Decompiler. If you have any intent to use Science abilities that work off these, then the deflectors are good.

Outside these points, I have very low opinion on the Romulan / Reman Space Sets. They are very, very specific in what they're good at. The shields are still terrible. The only thing that I know to be useful for most people would be the Romulan Engine for the Attack Pattern boost.

You already have the reman style looking in the basic textures of a lot romulan ships (for example the haakona or hapax). And anyways, ironically i like much more the classic romulan look than the reman one. I got tired of seeing that visual, since the reman shield is one of the most used shields in the game (probably because it is the shield you gather in an episode mission).

The reman / romulan sets are awesome, but as everybody will tell you, they are not the "best" of the "best". So if you are a power creeper user, you will not want to use this set, because some people will tell you that, because it is not the maco set, that is "TRIBBLE". You know what i mean.. lol.
