launcher stuck on 'loading, please wait'

so...today it took 7 attempts to get to the user/pass screen on sto's launcher. it kept sitting on 'loading, please wait' and I have absolutely no idea whats causing it nor how to fix it.

advice please?

    The Client may be stuck trying to establish a Internet connection to the STO Servers... Take a look at this thread, and when you have the problem, run the network diagnostic tests and post the results... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155

    ..nope..still doing it.

    gonna check my other laptop, just to make sure it isnt just this one.

    I had this problem too. It wouldn't connect just after a crash. I found a frozen error tracker in the hidden icons section of my taskbar and a 1GB-chewing GameClient.exe in my task manager doing nothing; shut both down and I could connect again. There might be something in your memory that's hanging the whole process up, too.
