I'm really NOT a fan of fan made materials, but this episode has changed my mind.
Ever wonder what happened in the alternate universe after the events of "Mirror, Mirror"? The episode picks up the story of the Alternate Spock and what happens after his Jim Kirk returns.
WOW. Classic Star Trek at it's finest.

Let's face it, it's very hard to take on iconic roles with the premise of it being year 4 of the original 5 year mission and not have the actors compared to the ones we've all come to know and love. That being said, I think Vic, the guy playing Captain Kirk, does a good job of channeling a bit of Shatner (posture, mannerisms, expressions), but doesn't go over the top with the Shatner speech patterns.
I'm looking forward to seeing more from Star Trek Continues. Very well done!!!
The VFX are better, but it doesn't feel like modern day stuff (*cough* JJ-trek *cough*) with too much lens flare and so forth.
The acting, sets, music, sound FX, it all works very well.
If you are a Trek fan and haven't seen it, give it a shot.
I said almost exactly the same thing about Vic Mignogna the other day... of all of the actors after William Shatner who've portrayed Kirk, he's hands down the most believable.
Ironically, the one character I have a hard time with is Spock. The guy playing him is okay but just doesn't seem to have Nimoy's presence in the role. Or even Zachary Quinto's. He might improve over time, but he still seems a bit... physically unimposing as a Vulcan, shall we say?

LOL, what a coincidence! I just watched ""Fairest of Them All" and was just going to post about it, when I saw your post.
What can I say? It's awesome. It's incredibly in the true spirit of STO, and I had trouble figuring out whether this was perhaps not some sort of official internet continuation, and was about to ask here whether others have seen it, when I saw your post.
It's really very good! Amazing, really.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
They really get the tone right. Extremely professional job. Sets are perfect. While watching these I actually forget I'm watching a fan film. I just feel like I'm watching a real Star Trek episode. Anyway, looking forward to seeing this one.
Edit: Wow, that was great. Did not skip nor miss a beat from TOS.
Now on to episode 2!
Michael Dorn voiced the computer in 'Fairest' btw.
Overall I enjoyed these. There where far more TOS episodes that where far less watchable then this. Pilgrim of Eternity had it been done during the TOS would have stood up as one of the better written episodes. I mean its 100x better then" Spocks brain" for instance.
The level of detail was amazing. The stories felt like the old series. The acting was terriffic as well. They even brought back the orginal actor who played Apollo in one episode. I love how they try so hard to get it right. You can tell that HUGE fans of TOS are working on this.
I highly recommend this to any Star Trek fan of the orginal show.
Makes me wonder why Paramount never considered trying this.
PLUS whole thing is non profit and privately funded. AMAZING set they built from scratch for this as well.
Two thumbs way up!!
PS- I love the use of the old sound tracks as well, DAM was that music good wasn't it?
Whenever I saw Zachary Quinto as Spock I thought of Sylar. He never seemed to be unemotional, only pissed until he snapped again. Of course Todd Haberkorn can't top Nimoy, but he's way better than Quinto.

You know, if people are dropping 33k for an episode of st continues and other fan made production, Star Trek makes money like crazy in retail, and the conventions are jam packed that cbs could conceivably make money making a new show.
But i bet it is "too hard".
If cbs made its own Star Trek netflix like service it would make enough money to cover the cost of a new series.
But again, I bet it is too hard.
Why bother? The smart money says "ramp up merchandising and cash in on all the free fan-funded advertising."
Of course they are different actors, but I found it professional and engaging.
I even turned off a Next Generation episode to finish it.
It is about the Borg and is taken from a first person view. Plus it has John de Lancie as Q.
What is "m.youtube.com"? Is that a members only site? The link keeps redirecting to youtube's homepage.
Based on your description, I don't think that's a fan flick. That's likely the Borg game that de Lancie did. I think it was a VHS game.
I've moved on to the second episode in the series, and casting Lou Ferrigno was inspired. Not only for the "big green guy" joke, but his acting, too. It is easily the longest I've heard him talk onscreen and he did a great job.
Once Someone Responded That This Is The 25th Century Not The 23rd Century,
But, If You Liked This Fan Made Episode You Might Like Star Trek Axanar.
It Does Deal With Early 23rd Century. But,is Has The Original/classic Bsg
Captain Apollo.

Not VHS, "full motion video" - 3 CDs' worth. (Relatively good, though, both in compression quality and writing etc.) Came out near the end of '96. Here's the Memory Alpha link.
I saw "Fairest" last night. Vic does a great job with Kirk, especially slightly-crazed mirror Kirk. Agreed that their Spock could use some work, but Nimoy's shoes are very big ones to fill; I'm not sure that I've seen any of the fan actors (except Quinto, if you count him) really pull it off. Chris Doohan does well by his dad's role, and I had to grin at the brief bit we got of mirror McCoy playing mad doctor. Their Marlena Moreau wasn't bad, a good ringer for Barbara Luna, but rather stiff IMO. The production values are, IMO, top notch.
If I have one general complaint about this episode, it's that mirror Spock's revolution proceeds way too fast; this is possibly inevitable due to having to fit everything in 40 minutes, but it seemed implausible to me that people who have grown up in the twisted, brutal, hyper-competitive Empire are apparently willing to chuck that all out the airlock as soon as one officer starts preaching the way of "peace" over the intercom. (That's the sort of thing slave races talk about - sometimes, as we see with the Halkans, right before they're annihilated.) Spock is smart and far-sighted (and ruthlessly logical) enough to see past the propaganda, but I doubt that most Terrans, especially soldiers of the Empire, would be so easily swayed by the claim that their system is unsustainable. It's worked out great for them so far, right? (Reminder to all officers: rumors to the contrary are lies and sedition, and repeating them is a disciplinary offense.)
Ideally, the story would probably work better played out over an arc of several episodes, or a whole season (or novel, of course), with Spock moving much more slowly and carefully and making as many (or more) appeals to ambition and self-interest as to idealism and principle. But what we got is pretty good for what it is.

Lol, that wasn't a fan made film, that was the digital footage from the game Star Trek: Borg, one of the first ST game I played. John de Lacey has always been on of my favourite actors, he has a very flamboyant style that's hard to match.
By the way, it is two years old, but I found this interesting interview with some of the cast. Chris' Trouble with Tribbles stories are a riot.
Which is exactly why Spock's mutiny worked. (though yes, it was fast due to show time constraints) By this point the empire was held together by the bubblegum and bailing wire of fear. Everyone stays in line because of fear of the next rung up the ladder. Decap the leadership and the system is revealed for the house of cards it is.
Mirror Spock still loses the big war in the long run. DS9 proved that with its Mirror Universe episodes.
I have tried to watch some other series, but they all feel so cheap it's a pain to watch IMO.
Star Trek continues feels much more professional made and it's skrips are really good.
I hope they keep on and continue the continuation for many more episodes.:)
