Question regarding Risian Floater

Is it worth waiting to get the Superior floater or is the Advanced one acceptable? Can anyone weight in on which is the better option? Drag to have to wait until getting enough favors (1K). I presently have 521 (my first Summer event).

If you want to win Floater Races, or make it real easy to get Statuettes on Multiple Toons, then yes, Otherwise ... Not even remotely worth it!

If the floaters were say 50 LF's, 100 LF's, and 150LF's, them maybe ... But the jump from 50 to 500 is a complete joke ... It's just Cryptic trolling again.

I just bought the 50 LF one on each toon, which saves me worrying about the hired one running out all the time. There's no point in getting fancy one if all you're doing in the flying high mission and not much else.

It depends on what you use the floaters for.

I simply pay the 1,000 EC each any every time I want to use one. I use them for either the short daily mission which gives you the pearls or the Risian Statue (can't remember the name) Hunt. In the 14 minute time limit I can complete the Hunt on 3 toons; about 5 minutes each. Since the rental lasts 15 minutes I don't need to worry about it disappearing on me while using it.

Paying the 50 favors for the standard floater will mean you don't have to bother with having to rent the floater. At 12,500 EC per favor as of last night; 50 favors is worth 625k ECs or the equivalent of 625 rentals. Between today and the end of the event I estimate I will be renting the floater 150 times for each of my three toons.

If you have 4 or more toons and you want to complete the Risian Statue Hunter for all of them in the 14 minute windows, then that would be the point I recommend you spend the 500 favors for each toon to get the advanced floaters because you are going to need it's speed to have a chance to complete the event in at most 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

I will be creating a 4th toon so I might do the Risian Summer Event with that toon as well, but 1st I need to get it to level 10.

Are the "Advanced" or "Superior" floaters more manuverable? The description implies this. From the responses, this may not be the case. Thanks

If you only want Pearls, the rental is fine. If you want to farm some Favors from the hunt, at least pay for the cheap one (50). I have a superior on my main because it handles like a dream, and the 50-Favor version on 3 other characters and I can get all 4 of them through the hunt in 14 minutes with time to spare. If I was using the Rental, I would probably miss out on some of the characters due to the time it takes to fly from the rental hut to the first hunt statue. By having the 50-favor permafloaters I can pre-position my characters before the hunt begins to save that time, when I would worry that my rental might expire if I had gone that route.

Depends on what you want. Of course, a superior floater will allow yo to do 4 or 5 times the horga hunting thing. But for me for example, that i only need to do 3 or 4 runs in a day, i dont need more than the standard floater (+tribble) for 4 of my toons. I only usually do 1 run in every char. I dont have the hurry to do 1 run, change to another character and do another one, and so on. I just wait until another hour and i do it again with other char.

But honestly, "saving" for buying a superior floater is a waste. They are hyper mega expensive (like everything in the summer event.. wth cryptic..) and those 1000 favors can serve you better to buy anything else. I will not going to pay even 500 for just the enchanted one. I think it is a waste of favors. But again, if you NEED to do 5 runs at the event timer, its not a question of if its worthy, is a question that you need it lol.

Yeah if they were 10 and then 20 times faster than the 50LF Floater, then it might be worth while, but then at those speeds, you probably wouldn't even be able to see the map, it would just be a smeared blur, and you'd overshoot the Idols by 3 light years.

It's completely farcical, that they made such a MASSIVE hike in price, I cannot think of any logical reason for it ... Or any truly logical reason for spending 1000 LF's on the superior version ...

But then, when has the STO player base (or Cryptic for that matter) been "logical"?

I first picked up the 50 favor version and then bought the 1000k version later last year. The superior floater drastically improved my hunt time.

I rarely walk or run around the island, I fly nearly everywhere (including through doors and windows), and transport from time to time. It has completely made up for the 1000k investment-which I cannot say for my 50 favor board.

It is fun switching from board to floater, and jumping into flight from a run-makes me feel like a superhero.

It depends on the number of toons you have and if you do the Hunt. The standard floater will get you through 3 toons easily for the Hunt. The enhanced floater will get 4 toons through the Hunt easily. Superior floaters can easily get 5 toons through the Hunt with the full 15 minute timer. So, if you only have 3 toons, stick with the standard; 4 toons get the enhanced; 5 or more go for the Superior.

Other than the Hunt, the only reason to have anything better than a standard floater is to cut time off Flying High, which isn't really necessary now that you can acquire the ships for just one run per ship through flying high on your alts, once you have each purchased. In other words, only 1 or 2 toons need to do flying high daily (2 if you haven't already acquired the corvette from last summer), all alts will only need to do flying high a total of 2 times.

The superior floater is just a caprice, you actually dont need it for anything. People just buy it because they want to fly at hyper speed, or they have favors saved already, not for reducing time on doing the events. With the standard floater you can do all the events with several toons and have enough favors / pearls to complete anything and you will have plenty of days left once you finished.

And seeing the stupid abusive prices of all the stuff, i really dont see a reason to buy a superior floater. You just dont need it, period. Think on it before you really going to waste 1000 favors on that thing.

I do the daily mission for all my 3 toons. It does not really take much time and I can get a leg up on the Winter Event. Unless of course all pearls goes **POOF** at the end of the Summer Event.

The Pearls you're earning are only used for getting the 2 ships in the Summer Event. The Winter Event uses Photographs of Q.

So...yeah, you're not earning anything for the Winter Event, and nothing you're buying now (short of last year's costume unlocks) can even be used during the Winter Event.

Now, if you're getting extra Pearls for NEXT year's Summer Event, then yes, that'll be useful.
