Hi guys, can you help point me in the right direction please?
I've just this week come back to the game after a long absence (I started at launch after buying the CE, unfortunately I found space combat too awkward, it felt like I was trying to fold my hand in half trying to press all the buttons so I quit not long after, recently I found I could use a joystick so tried it out and I'm loving it) and I've started a new character.
I've been receiving my missions from Admiral Quinn on the ESD and just attained level 13, after finishing the mission Task Force Hippocrates Admiral Quinn hasn't given me any more missions, I understand that the next one from him is at level 16, but what do I do to level until then? I've wandered around ESD and completed all the mission I can find there and I'm not sure where to go to get more.
Hit the 'j'-key - it should open up Your journal and You can select new episodes (=missions/quests) from there, on top of the window there should be different tabs to choose from.

if that doesnt work, fly t random non-major planets (vulcan, andoria and risa dont have missions), you might be rewarded with a patrol mission.
And theirs always the Exploration missions, (e.g. Delta Volanis Cluster), plus theirs a Daily associated with them that can get you a nice amount of Dilithium...
And theirs always the STF actions such as Star Base 24, which is also a good place to practice your combat techniques against a angry mob...
You can also do Doff (Duty Officer) missions. When you reached level 11 you should have received around 20 Doffs.
There should be an icon under the mini-map which will bring up the Duty Officer window. It should be the icon that depicts "3 people". Just click on the buttons below the mini-map, there are not to many of them anyway.
Doff missions will reward XP and sometimes other things as well. The rewards can be relatively small for short and easy missions and somewhat large for longer and more dangerous missions. Your Doffs can die or be injured so take the casualty risk and disaster % into consideration.
Here are links to videos by JTKrik86 regarding the Doff system if you are interested. The Doff gameplay is totally optional, but it adds depth to the game, and gives your some perks eventually purple duty officers that can enhance the performance of your ship in space combat or your away team in ground missions.
It's seems like such an awesome way to play the game. Just haven't dove into it yet
I use a Logitech Attack3 joystick with pretty much default settings, just basics at the moment until i learn how to set it up right, the joystick part turns and lifts/drops the nose and I've set the trigger to fire all weapons and i use the keyboard for abilities.
It does have one great feature though, on the back of the stick is a slider that makes the joystick auto turn left or right, so when I'm in a battle and want to circle at range i just flip that on and don't have to worry too much about manoeuvring.
The only issue i have is occasionally the camera angle gets in the way because it doesn't follow the ship and i have to take my hand off the stick to adjust the angle with the mouse. Anyone know if there's a way to set the camera angle to follow the ship?
Thanks for the help guys i'll look into it when i get home.

I think your looking for "chase camera" , if your unsure where to look, go to the options menu, then go to the subheading "controls" and find the option "camera type" should be near the top of the page
I have mine set to follow target when I fly a cruiser, and chase camera when I use a shuttle or an escort

I have used Doff missions to level up a semi-active Romulan toon that I recently created.
