Where can these be found besides elite STFs?

I could have sworn I got some from Deferi ground missions in the invasion zone but its been awhile since I "lived" there.

The only other place you can get them is in the reward boxes from the rep, but they are extremely rare, I've only had one so far across 4 toons.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the Borg Defera ground missions reward BNPs based on the following Wiki about it.

    http://sto.gamepedia.com/Borg_Invasion_of_Defera

Regarding the various Borg STF missions... Cryptic changed the reward system for season 9. Normal rewards no longer has a slim chance to earn a BNP. Elite Borg STF missions no longer has a small chance of getting 6 or 11 BNPs upon completion. Elite Borg STF missions only rewards 1 BNP as of season 9.

I just ran one and saw that - good thing we had a good team.

1 per on elite STF's is quite a climb....

I suggest simply trying to play Infected: The Conduit Elite (a.k.a ISE - Infected Space Elite) a couple of times. It is the easiest of the 4 space Borg STF missions.

I have been playing it with a basic ship with nothing that cannot be gotten for free from the main story missions or purchased for more than 200K ECs on the Exchange (many times less than that). However, you need to develop a good strategy and some tactics to stay alive since the difficulty level has increased since season 8.5.

I had some difficulty when I 1st played elite missions, but the challenge has made me a better player overall; even with a basic ship.

That's odd. When I ran in "The Cure Found-Elite" last night, I got two BNPs. But it may have been a glitch or bug. I dunno.

Played it today on another character, and got only one.

I think you can still get one for the optional... but only one and not often.

That's good. You will get better at it the more times you play it. Soon enough you probably don't even need to be in a team to be able to do the missions. I never bothered to do any STF mission with a team, I simply queue up the STF any play it with whoever I end up being with. The vast majority of time (95%+) the mission ends up being successful.

Borg elite STF are my favorite along with Crystalline Catastrophe Elite (CCE or CE) because they reward 960 dilithium which allows me to meet my daily dilithium quota assuming I have enough time to play. The BNPs are nice, but not a priority for me.

The only real issue is having people online to PUG an STF.

So far there's been plenty in one of the elite borg STFs, but its catch-as-catch can.

I only wish they would have mentioned this, IIRC I had a bunch of BNPS I traded in for dili on dili weekend, and if Id've known they were nerfing the rewards I would have saved a few...

I can do the STF's well enough to get by, I just hate the surprise.

    Well....

The good news is that for a complete space set you only need 30 BNPs so at worse it will only take a month if you only do 1 Borg STF elite per day. On the other hand a full ground combat set for you and your Boffs can be... challenging to say the least. That's a total of 150 BNPs.

No idea how it happened but I had like 50+ on my main rommy fed. Down to maybe 30+ now.

I remember running a borg elite queue and getting eleven at one time. They only give one now? or was I getting a fortunate (for me) bug back then?

As of season 8.5 the Borg Elite STF rewarded either 1, 6 or 11 BNPs. That has been reduced to 1 as of season 9.

I recall getting as many as 34 BNPs in one day for my Fed toon doing just 4 missions. I am currently sitting on a nice pile of BNPs and every day I add between 2 - 4 more BNPs to it.

Unfortunately, for I have not started playing Borg elite STFs for my KDF toon until towards the end of season 8.5. I have enough for a compete space set, but only just enough for one ground set. I am a long way from kitting out my bridge crew with a ground set. Got another 40 days (3 STFs a day) to 60 days (2 STFs a day) before I have enough to give all my Boffs a full ground set if i choose to go that route. Not too big of a deal since I do not really focus on ground combat.

I'm curious, how many BNPs do people keep on hand as a "rainy day fund?" At least one of my characters has well over a hundred of the things. In the absence of any concrete plans to use them, it would make sense to convert some of them to dilithium, but not all of them, right? How many would you hold back?

I was recently thinking of finally cashing in some of my BNPs (and some of the other special currency drops) for dilithium as well. I have about 160 of them, so I was planning on at least keeping a 100 in my bank "just in case".

I'm waiting to cash them in last, though. Omega Rep gear is still among the useful pieces you can get, and I'm thinking of gearing out my away team as well, which won't be cheap mark, dilithium, or BNP-wise.

I'm interested to know if my knowledge needs correcting.

As far as I know, there's no need to save BNPs for "a rainy day," as there are no unforeseen BNP expenses in the game.

It's pretty easy to budget all the BNPs you'll ever need. For myself, one of each set item (ground and space) is all I want. I don't need a set for each of my away team officers.

Once I know that, every spare BNP I collect is just another 1000 Dili.

I have well over 200 BNPs lying around, but I don't have the Dili to buy all the pieces I want yet. I haven't taken the time to count up all the BNPs I'll need to complete all the Omega sets for my collection, but once I do, I don't see any value in converting the spares to Dili immediately.

Am I mistaken about something there? Is there a reason to save BNPs for "a rainy day"?

    Just checking my toons now....

My Romulan Toon has none so far... only level 37.

My KDF toon has 116. I only started towards the end of season 8.5 when it was still possible to get 6 or 11 BNPs.

My Fed toon has 445 basically because I was playing Borg Elite STF a lot (still do) back in season 8.5. However, the primary goal was and still is to grind dilithium since they give 960 dil per STF. The omega marks and BNPs are just icing on the cake. There was a forum member who stated he had around 900 BNPs which sounded reasonable since he was playing STO long before I started at the end of Jan 2014.

You need to turn in 3 BNP to get 1000 dil. Unless you are referring to the 960 dil you get for each successful Borg elite STF.
