Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser Tank Build. Nukara vs Borg

gameversemangameverseman Member Posts: 1,110 Arc User
I got my Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser yesterday for my RRF KDF Alien Engineer. I want him to tank and do decent DPS. But I was wondering if the Nukara Space set would be a viable choice? My friend who flies it with a Sci Fed captain recommended The Borg (Assimilated) Space Set for it. But, comparing stats of both, I rather go with Nukara but I don't know if really is a wise choice. Naturally the Borg set looks better on it just because the ship is an "Adapted" ship so its meant to look Borg-like. However, unless you use a science captain, is the borg set really the best move, or any Omega set for that matter? Thanks :)

My current build to the most details that I could remember. The skills might be a little off from my actual character

    ...aux2bat or non aux2bat?

    What's the budget?

You seem to need an overhaul...let me know

I put the Borg set on my Adapted Destroyer for a more authentic feel.

The appeal of the Borg set is not necessarily the stats, it's the built in set bonuses. That hull heal is what keeps many squishy escorts alive in elite content and makes cruisers that much harder to kill.

Nukara is tanky but it really doesn't do much for your build.

Both sets work fine, the 2p borg is generally preferred for the extra hull heal is provides.

I meant 2 aux2bats with 3 technicians for cd reduction

The overhaul/budget remark is based on your gear and boff selection. Extremely sub par...a huge change to your boffs will greatly increase both your offensive and defensive capabilities.

The aux2bat way would work well for you but I didn't know how you felt about that method.

    Cheers

Well, tbh, its just the Nukara deflector I'm interested in. The borg transwarp engines seem ok. I know what you mean when it comes to set bonuses but Im looking for a set where I can get good equipment AND good bonuses for a tank and that seems almost non-existent which sucks.

Boff abilities is all thats shown. not the boffs themselves so I don't know what you are referring to. I've already ran this character through PvE and he never dies and does decent crits. like 16-27k crits at times. In PvP I tank relatively well, could be better tbh. So I figured, since I don't have any yet, I would get some Rep and a rep set. If not, Fleet gear. However, the fleet I'm in is my fleet run by me and it's not even Tier 1 anything. So I don't even have provisions to be able to go to a friends base and purchase equipment. Which is why I'm looking more into Rep sets.

3 damage control doffs. 3 of your choice

It's not the best it can be, but it seems your a tad new to ship. So I kept super expensive and fleet items off the table.

Build seems great, but I don't see what good it would do tanking.

Ah! I see! 2 part bonus on borg tech. 2 part bonus on adpated borg tech. 3 part bonus on solonae. 2 part counter command tech bonus. Damn! ok. now how can we incorporate a commander engineer instead of a tac?

Bfaw to hold aggro on everything

Tactical team to keep your shields where you need them

Epts, tss, st for shield heals

    Aux2sif, he, for hull healing

Epte to keep you moving for repositioning

Soloane 3p set for hull leech heal.

Cmon. Man, a tank is nothing if he doesnt have threat on everything, this build will accomplish that...you old build was made for one target only...

I guess I'll leave it at that

You are right about how the boff abilities help but the majority are only level 1 abilities. as opposed to the level 2 or level 3 abilities. those heals wont help much with a ship that has high hull and relatively high shields. that build would work well in an escort given they have less hull and shields but more DPS

I think I will change to Bfaw and get rid of fp and put ph3 there instead with he1. and use the set bonuses you suggested.
