Jem set or the Aegis?

For my temporal destroyer, what would be best? the Aegis set or the Lobi enhanced Jem set?
I do like to be aggressive and if I use polarons, the gem set gives me a good damage bonus as well as a decent 3 set special (from what I have read), yet the Aegis set would give me a better defence...

Any advice?

Aegis has been outclassed several times over, don't bother. Counter Command space set is pretty much as close as you'll get to an end game ready Aegis set.

Unless you're running polaron weapons, a dominion ship, want flow caps or need stealth detection (pvp), you're better off saving your lobi for something better.

In my opinion, the Salonae is the best starter set in the game at the moment. Just run the FE "Step Between the Stars" three times to get it.

If you own them, may as well use them, but if you don't have them already, they aren't worth the cost. If buying a new general-purpose set from scratch these days, I'd look at either assimilated set plus fleet shield, the 8472 set, the Nukara set, or the Solanae set. Dyson and Honor Guard are also nice for specific purposes. But the Aegis and Jem'Hadar-12 sets, while still solid enough, just haven't kept up the power creep enough to justify the expense.

More of the same, I suppose.

If you have both, use the Jem hadar.

If you pvp and have plenty of aux, use the Jem deflector for sure.

Otherwise, get the soloane set. Use until you feel like grinding for one that tickles your fancy...the undine deflector/engines would be a good choice
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

Thanks for the advice, where can I find the Episode 'step between the stars' ? (I am Romulan), and what do you think of the Romulan Tier 5 space set?

The romulan/reman space sets are imo still sub-par, when compared to the newer sets, and even older omega rep gear.

To find step between the stars, click j and goto episodes list dyson episodes, than you need goto the tau dewa sector dyson sphere entry point to begin the mission.

Thanks again... Would I need all 4 of the Salonae pieces for the set? As i'm using Anti proton weapons i'm using the 2 piece set (Warp core and weapon) that gives me the 10% bonus damage and would not like to gove that up...

My Klink Tac still uses both the Aegis and the Jem'Hadar sets. On a Fleet Mogh. As long as I am managing this ship properly, I have no worries. What I cannot do with these sets mounted on the Mogh is simply stare blankly at the screen while repeatedly pressing and releasing the Spambar. :D

The Rom Rep Set on my Fleet Mogai is effective. I made a decision when I acquired it to go completely Rom on the ship. There is no non Romulan gear on Shadow Wing except for the Singularity Core. Which is Fleet as well. It is a very viable PvE build. I have achieved 2nd and 3rd place in CCE with this ship. I have pulled aggro from Scimis with it in ISE. Donatra has ignored two Odysseys to stalk me in KVE. The few times I have gone to Ker'rat with it I have done well. I've died yes, but because of my mistakes. Not because of any imaginary or perceived weaknesses in these sets.

What more than a few Captains want is for the technology in the game to counter their own shortcomings. The game already does this by not allowing characters to truly die and lose everything. A poor Captain in a Fleet Ship with Elite Fleet gear will perform far worse than a good player who has a free ship kitted out all in Mk XII Green.

OP, instead of trying to find what the best gear is by asking others, take the Aegis or the Jem'Hadar Set, mount it on your best ship and find out for yourself. Doesn't hurt anything but your pride to learn the hard way. And when you succeed, the hurt goes away instantaneously.

You can't get the warp core anymore (lobi only now) so don't worry about it. Just use the 3-piece, which gives you a nice heal proc, and is just generally good equipment even without the set bonuses. Then use your antiproton warp core and you're good.

If you going to polaron weapons, the jem set is great, really useful. If not, then its not. Just that simple lol.

Breen set mix with Solanae set works out find for all of my 3 fractions (Singularity on Romulan is 100% full power with ESP with slipstream support) Found a warp core for the Fed/KDF that has the same features (only if I need to exceed ESP to the max) but use Solanae core instead along with beef-up tactical, engineering, and science bridge officers training/traits and duty officers traits. :D
