Consoles, MK X, XI, XII

I noticed some consoles, such as the Plasma Infuser consoles, seem to have the same abilities at MK X, XI and XII. For example, the Plasma Infuser will increase Energy Weapon Damage by 24.4%.

Why does it matter what MK it is if it always increases the damage by the same amount?

What incredibly obvious fact am I missing here?

I want this answer as well.

Are these consoles of different colors? Each colority is worth the equivalent of one mark, so Purple XI = Blue XII.

People will, for some baffling reason, pay more, often considerably more, for the same thing in purple.

Are you checking the quality as well. The difference between a blue and a purple of equal mark is the same as a Mk X and a mark XI of the same quality

In general it works as follows:

Very Rare (Purple) Console MK X = Rare (Blue) Console MK XI = Uncommon (Green) Console MK XII

In this case all the above consoles are of different marks and quality but they all provide the same benefit. If you are looking to buy the console, then typically the Uncommon (Green) Console MK XII will likely be the least expensive simply because it is "uncommon" while the Very Rare (Purple) Console MK X will probably be the most expensive because it is "very rare".

Either way check prices before buy / selling.

The cause of the price difference.... perception...

To answer your question, all the above responses are true... higher rarity, lower mark and can be equal to lower rarity, higher mark.

...then look at the prices in the Exchange! You can usually find consoles that can give the same boost for a lower price by going with lower mark but rarer quality units.

People will inexplicably spend more on purple consoles. Tetryon damage consoles for example: Mk XII Rare (blue) goes for about 200k and XI Very Rare (purple) goes for over a million. Same 28.1 damage boost, pure psychology at work.

Thanks - that explains a lot, like why my MK XII had only 24.4% when I could have sworn I read somewhere about them maxing at 30%. I hadn't even considered the exchange prices - I just took a look and am amazed!

Lesson #1 learned, when selling on exhange, rarity over rank for same effect items.
Lesson #2 learned, I need to get 30's (MKXII purples)

The price for one's own passions is usually costly.

No, don't waste any ec on Mk XII VR consoles (except for field generators) because they're obsolete. Join a fleet and get fleet damage consoles. 31.9 damage of your choosing and more damage via added critical hit/critical damage buffs.

    Wow - Thanks muchly!

    You mean like

Console - Tactical - Vulnerability Exploiter Mk XII (+Pla)
    +8% Critical Severity
    +31.9% Plasma Energy Weapon Damage

Fleet needs Tier 3 research but thanks again, its exactly what I was looking for...
