Requesting Two Dev Blogs

aelfwin1aelfwin1 Member Posts: 2,896 Arc User
I would like to request two Dev Blogs on topics that have been recently introduced into the game .

- Topic # 1 : The Graphical changes of Season 9 .

The reason that I'm asking is this :
Apart from the visual bugs (invisible weapons fire & low frame rate) -- actual settings have been changed , but by how much & what exact ratio was used remains very much unclear .

What I would like to see is a demonstration (meaning a picture of the current UI) along with a description of where the "Maximum settings" of Pre-Season 9 are now , with the current UI -- as the current Maximum Settings are not the same as they were in the last 8 seasons .

It is my hope that this would help cut down the complaints and perhaps solve some of the issues many players are facing .

- Topic # 2: Kit frames and Modules that exist in game .

The Kit revamp had one Dev Blog dedicated to it , despite it being a major game changer for 50% of the game .
I'm sorry to say , but that is not enough .

Previously we had about 4 kits to each profession ... -- something that sooner or later a player could memorize .

Currently we have a whole lot more Kit Frames and a lot more Modules ... , each offering something a little different -- so many in fact that many players don't really have a clue as to what's really out there , and that prevents them from adequately planning and searching for the kit or module they feel is right for them .

So, what I'm asking for is simple :
A complete list of kit frames -- broken down by professions , Mark availability (Mk I - Mk XII) , % of abilities they enhance and places to purchase , as well as a complete list of kit modules -- broken down by professions and places to purchase .

Nobody wants that kind of information. How about we have another guest blog on PvP or Roleplaying instead? Oh oh, or how about Dilithium 101?

Pertinent and important information just seems like such a hassle when Smirk or Trendy can just phone it in with some bread and circuses.

Dude , do you know how much effort it was to sound ... "constructive" and not angry about these issues .
I demand respect for my TITANIC effort here !!! :P

... after all , it's too easy to 'tell it like it is' and go off on another rampage ... :)
Plus we were discussing ways to boost Cryptic's communication in another thread ... -- in a way that does not make them talk about Ex 2 .

I read a lot of Dev Blogs, and try to keep up with the latest of what's going on in the game, but even I'm stumped with the new kits. I can't seem to find enough of the bits anywhere to actually put one together! Then I have my level 50 characters, who I'm happy with their abilities. They don't change to the new system. But I have two level 30ish characters who are going to need to drop their old Commander/Subcommander kits at some point. It just seems like too much hassle to have to search out all these modules, when they're levelling up, and will need a new one in another ten levels.

This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!

Cryptic completely dropped the ball when it came to divulging information about the new kit system.

From frame and module availability to turn ins, crafting, and bugs (some of which are still ongoing) there has been a stark lack of clarity despite an avalanche of questions and opportunity to answer them.

Due to the lack of info i have left the kit system very much alone.

I am still using my old fleet kits from spire/embassy.

Some fleet members have told me that exchanging an old fleet in the new store doesnt give you all the pieces to recreate your old kit, so I am not going anywhere near it.

I completely agree with OP, the amount of info we were given on this subject is laughable. imagine if instead of the doZens if not hundreds of dev blogs that we have been given on new ship stats/abilities was reduced into ONE blog. A kit is AS important as your ship as it how you do your stuff on the ground.

If only the community people stopped talking about bacon and actually gave us some useful information on the subject...

We do have the Kit list from STO Wiki: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Kit
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Everything on the wiki might as well be written in klingon...
No idea what it all means and given the things i have heard about turn ins - I am not touching it.

Cryptic completely dropped the ball when it came to divulging information about the new kit system.

They didn't drop anything any worse than the fumbled Romulan DOff for Junior Officer Appreciation Week- you know, the one they said they're gonna work soooooo hard to fix back around the time of the event and since then the only sound about it from them has been crickets chirping?

Nothing new to see here, just The Cryptic Way™ as usual...move along.

Some fleet members have told me that exchanging an old fleet in the new store doesnt give you all the pieces to recreate your old kit, so I am not going anywhere near it.

    That is incorrect information.

Exchanging your Kit via the Spire or the Embassy will give you the EXACT same kit as before...except that all the powers within are now modular. So you can pull out individual powers and put others in (if you want).

So go trade in that kit. It's completely better in every way (as those Kits now have stat bonuses to your Captain skills) and it costs you nothing.

Or else use your Fleet tokens to buy the latest and greatest Mark XII Kit via the same vendor. The Romulan one is better IMHO, but that's entirely up to you.

Also, if you want a generic Kit? Visit your local generic vendor that has always sold basic ground weapons and hypos and armor and everything else. They now sell basic Kits and Modules as well.
