The game begins with you sprawled on the floor, bloodwine all over. Your first officer enters the room with disgust.
"General! What is this disgrace? Get up you miserable petaQ!" Your first officer hauls you up as you vomit on him. He tosses you aside in disgust.
"If you weren't the greatest general the Empire has known since Martok, I'd kill you where you lie!" Your first officer spits on you.
"Get up!" Your first officer gets you up and supports you as he carries you to the window."
"Look out there, look at that!"
"That" You say "Is all that's left of the Alpha Quadrant. We've lost, you fool." Your first officer slams your face against the window and you fall to the ground, your nose bleeding.
"qoH" He says "Not I, but you. That is all that is left to save the Alpha Quadrant. Think of the songs they will sing when we return in triumph, not a dozen weak, but ten thousand strong!" You roll over on your side, looking at your first officer as though he's lost his mind
"We have lost much, but so have our enemies. Now, now is the hour of our greatest need. Now we shall go to our greatest enemy we have ever known and we will get them to join us!" Your first officer smiles as he stands over you. "We need the Jem'Hader, and together, with the best soldiers in the galaxy, with our Federation allies and those... farmers from the Romulan Republic, we shall liberate the galaxy! Songs will be sung as we drench the Alpha Quadrant in the blood of the qa'meH quv!" Slow you get up. "The Dominion? They'll never ally with us!"
"Then show them what we recovered from the Iconians. Convince them of the threat we all face. They will join us, or they will die like cowards!" You steady yourself and your first officer slaps you across the back. "More bloodwine! Break out the barrels of 2389! We drink tonight, for tomorrow we ride to our deaths or our victory!"

Federation
The scene opens to see you sprawled on the floor of your quarters. Your first officer and chief medical officer enters the room. They look at you with pity. The Klingon passed out at the table is not noticed.
"Give him something doctor. He needs to wake up."
"His alcohol level is 0.3. He's not waking up any time soon."
"We need him."
"I'm a doctor, not an alcoholic." Your CMO cracks a smile which fades when he sees the annoyed expression on the first officer. "Sorry, just a doctor's joke."
"We don't have time for jokes."
"Okay." The doctor gives you a shot. You begin to stir.
"Oh my head!" You speak in a dry, raspy voice.
"Thank you doctor, you may go now."
"What about the Klingon?" Your CMO gestures to the Klingon.
"Klingons have thick heads, he'll be fine. Thank you." Your first officer points to the door. The CMO leaves.
"Ohhh, my head." You whine as the first officer stands over you.
"Serves you right, sir. What were you thinking? A drinking match with our representative from the Empire?" Your first officer orders two glass of salty water from the replicator. He pours one on your face. "Here's your glass."
"Ohh my head. If it didn't hurt so much, I'd toss you in the brig for that."
"Toss me in the brig later. Right now we have more important things to do." Your first officer helps you up to your feet and brings you over to the window.
"What's more important than my hangover?" Your first officer shakes his head in dismay. "Look Admiral! Look at them. We are probably all that's left of the Alpha Quadrant fleet not fighting for our lives. We don't know if our fleet held, but we have to assume they need our help. We are only a dozen ships. We need more." You fall onto a couch.
"Does it matter? This war just gets bigger and bigger. When we first came aboard this ship, it was just us, the Klingons and the Borg. Now it's the Romulans, the True Way, the Devonians, the Undine, the Voth and now the Iconians." Your first officer helps you drink your water and you begin to speak better.
"Yes Admiral. It was just us, the borg and the Klingons. But now look at it. The Devonians are gone, the True Way shattered, the Borg pushed back for now and the Klingons are our allies. The Republic has joined us and the Star Empire is but a shadow of itself. The Alpha and Beta Quadrants are united. We need the Gamma and Delta to win this war. We need to bring the Voth to the table and we need to convince the Undine that we are not their enemies." You hold your head as this is too much thinking for you.
"Admiral, we need the Dominion. They have recently added three thousand warships to their ranks. Convince them to join us and we can return to the Alpha Quadrant with ten thousand warships and put an end to this war for once and all." You look at your first officer and realise this plan is a good plan. You smile
"Okay, but just one thing before we do all this."
"What's that, Admiral?"
"Get me a cup of coffee."
Romulan
Tovan enters your quarters. You are sprawled on the floor, blue liquid all over. Tovan kicks you in your ribs and you cry out, a weak and raspy cry.
"Sorry, but that's the way it is for us farmers. We don't sleep on the job and if we're drunk when we're supposed to work then it's a swift kick for us." You roll over and wince in pain but your mind starts to clear
"What is wrong with you Tovan?"
"Admiral, we've lost our harvest this season. What do you do when your crops fail?"
"What are you talking about?" You get into a sitting position, leaning against the wall, one hand holding your head, the other where you were kicked.
"Face it, at our hearts, we are farmers. We were born farmers, we were raised farmers. It's in our blood and quite frankly I don't know much of war analogies so bear with me."
"Ugh, farmers, ah those were the days." You begin to think when Tovan kicks you again.
"What did we do when a crop failed?"
"We found out why it failed and we took steps not to repeat the same mistakes of past. That hurts." You rub your sore spots.
"Right, we were failing because we didn't have enough allies, enough manpower and we were stretched. In short, we grew too fast and didn't have enough water for all our crops."
"No Tovan, we got our butts kicked because they were superior to us. 'the weak shall perish!'. Well, we perished!" Tovan slaps you.
"Get a grip Admiral! We are not weak. We are Romulans! When brute force doesn't work, we use other means."
"Those other means have made us many enemies. You sure you want to do that? What of your sister?"
"We do not use deception. We get others to fight our fights."
"Tovan, what others?" You slowly get up.
"The Dominion."
"Okay, now I know you've lost it." You limp over to the window to look at your ragtag force.
"Admiral, a dozen badly damaged ships will make no difference. Thousands of Dominion warships joining the fight will tip the odds in our favour. We can make Mol'Rihan safe again. We convince them that they are a target of the Iconians and they will join us. Then we will have our much deserved place at the table of the Alpha Quadrant. The Klingons and Federation will no longer ignore us or pay us lip service. We will be equal!" A pause as you consider Tovan's words.
"You're insane, but it's just crazy enough to work. Set course for the Dominion."
If you'd recall, I did write a suggestion that we lose at the end of this season, and the hero is forced into a retreat into the Gamma Quadrant. This would make for a realistic opening to the new season, your new orders, as suggested by your first officer. You are the commander setting out to find new allies to prevent the crushing defeat at Deep Space 9 from turning into total defeat for the Alpha Quadrant. I would love to see this or something along this idea... the hero has fallen into a state of despair, but is rallied by the first officer into a last ditch effort to save the Alpha Quadrant... by making a deal with the devil.
This opens up a potential new storyline for after the alliance defeats the Iconians. The Dominion doesn't like to leave.
Ugh, knowing how we've been going, that's probably what's going to happen... but one can hope otherwise
The Delta Quadrant allows for true exploration while the Gamma Quadrant is pretty much Dominion Space almost everywhere.
Cryptic will never completely devastate the Alpha Quadrant due to it being a MMO. No matter what part of the story you are in, ESD, DS9, Qo'Nos, and New Romulus will always be available. This suggestion would be perfect for a single player game.
Remember, you're entering the wormhole as Bajor is surrounded and you probably have a fleet there anyways. Captain Kutland said he was preparing for this for some time. The Federation is fighting elsewhere. Really, what would change is that those Klingon raiding parties in our sector blocks would be replaced with Undine.
When you return, DS9 will still be there, Bajor will not be destroyed. You'd be leading a counteroffense from the wormhole.
Who knows, maybe the Federation fleet will break through from the other side and force the Undine back. Some sort of trap will be set off, attracting Undine to it... maybe the Betzoids will launch a massive telepathy attack urging peace, love and joy. It'll drive the Undine nuts that they go hunting for their homeworld.
I'd love to get rid of him, honestly... but Tovan... sadly Cryptic has made him part of yoat'd be nice. here was an option to remove him, that'd be nice.
Season 10 won't be till next year. Expansions are not considered seasons, and we're due for Expansion 2 in the fall.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

"Probably?"
Who missed the "what do y'all want" poll that makes this not probably, but written on the wall in stone? You did, apparently.
More likely Expansion 2. Season 10 would be after that so at this point it could be anything.
That was for season 9. We got it
