Been away from the game and the forums for a week, it was pretty quiet here before that, but now it just seems like a tomb.

Everyone too busy in the game having fun?:) Nothing major to complain about lately:eek::P

I wasn't playing for months, but I basically quit using the forums anyway. This is my first time back in God only knows how long.

It wasnt 1 year ago. So, give STO time enough.. lol (btw is already in progress..). In fact, a lot of players are really reducing the hours of play drastically. Due to so many bugs and performance issues, i dont think the game forums will be too populated from here to 6 months.

Gaming basically follows the same seasonal cycles every year. At the beginning of Summer schools lets out and people initially spend more time outside doing activities other then gaming, so gaming populations drop. Around late June people get sick of being outside and they start gaming more, and so gaming populations pick back up. Then in late August/ early September people start going back to school and so gaming populations drop again.

As soon as the down cycle hits people start talking about how the server is empty, their Friend's List is empty, and thus the game is dying. It is really common all on the gaming forums I frequent.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

If you were given a dollar every time you type the word "bug" in a post you would own Cryptic by now. :)

If that will get the cryptic team to care about this game, i will write "bug bug bug bug" a millions of times. Unfortunately it is useless xD.

In this case, is not the same. A lot of people right now only log-in to the game to do som minor stuff and thats it. 15 minutes of play. And a lot of people already stop playing when S9 came out. And others are not playing because they have all the characters bugged with the loadout system thing. And others are tired because they have half of your klingon characters blocked and they cant use em. There are sooo many reasons people will start stop playing, that i could will write books and books about it. At least, some of us we are already prepared. We even have bunkers and nuclear settlers. LOl.

At some point you need to understand that your disdain for STO does not carry over to everyone. How upset you feel is not how everyone feels. You do not speak for everyone playing the game. Stop acting like your opinion is right and everyone else's is wrong.

If you only log in and do 15 minutes of play, that is you. If you stopped playing due to Season 9, that is you. Get it? YOU are not EVERYONE. :)

Yup, this was included in my thinkings. And this is for example, the problem that will be the end of STO, since the devs doesnt seem to care about it lol.

And yes, i tend to write negative comments, but you are one of "those" who always try to defend cryptic at all costs, we all know that. Why cant you just be honest for once?? serioulsy... i dont care if you like so much STO, or if you are a cryptic employer, but if you cant see the real world, not for once, you have a big problem. You are maybe one of those who is going to cry so loud when this come to an end lol. You are not even going to believe wat is happening xD.

You have it all wrong. I can show you dozens of posts where I have called STO an average MMO, at best. But at least I understand that I only speak for myself. I do not run around a gaming forum pretending that everything I hate everyone must hate. I am mature enough to understand that everyone has a different opinion on everything. That is why there are thousands of TV shows and movies to watch. That is why there are thousands of books to read. That is why there are hundreds of different types of games to play.

What you do not see is that you are too emotionally invested into this hobby. You have let it get you so worked up that it consumes you. You are so deep in the anger stage that you no-longer see that you are acting irrationally when it comes to this game. You need to step away for a bit. This game is what it is. You either accept that or you go insane.

And I will not cry when STO ends; whether that is this year or 10 years from now. Why not? Because it is just a game, not my life.

While I'm no better expert than thecosmic1 or edgecrysger, I am somewhat exasperated whenever these threads pop up. They remind me of political commentary about the flavor of the week cause for "ruining our nation", whenever I turn the TV on in the morning.

For better or for worst, I sincerely believe that Cryptic and STO have reached a point of neutral buoyancy: for as many people that leave, an equal amount enter the game; for as many slow moments in the forums, there will be an equal amount of high traffic moments; for every visionary who sees the end, there will be a visionary who still sees continuation.

The only constant I get out of this is that thecosmic, edgecrysger, talonxv, rinkster, worffan, and many others will continue to post and populate this forum no matter what happens to Cryptic and STO.

I was not calling DOOOMM about the game - just noticed a decreasing forum participation of late. Forum participation does not always accurately indicate what is going on in game.

From the dev's standpoint, one would expect to see less forum activity after a new season release, once the whining about unmet expectations has run its course. Sad to think that players look to forum activity to assess the health of their game community. I do notice large queues of player ships at space docks in-game, and that is proof enough people are keeping up their end, when it comes to healthy activity.

Dead? Honestly this feels to be about the roughly average level I expect from the forums most of the time. I usually check the forums once or twice a day, and on average for the 'General Discussion' area I have to look at least at pages 1 and 2 before I stop finding new posts.

We had a season release the other day, which always causes a big increase in posts for a short time. School/college just got out, which added to that. Now it's just quieting down.

It'll pull back up when they release the Summer Event, probably next month.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Pretty much everything there is to complain about has been complained about. At this point it's beating a dead horse, and everyone is tired of it.

Bravo forum folks, I think it has been proved that the forums are not dead.

But since this thread is already turning into a flame thread, I have no choice but to kill it.

The forums are dead, long live the forums! Until you make me kill things....

    Again, bravo :)
