It works!!! I can stream STO on my crappy laptop now from my desktop computer and keep all my high graphic settings. The possibilities of this are amazing. :)

Going from a 1920x1080 24 inch screen on my desktop to a piddly little 15 inch panel of uncertain resolution in my laptop? No thanks!
and don't even get me started on the crappiness of a laptop keyboard/trackpad for playing STO when compared to a proper desktop keyboard and mouse setup!

If there was ever a pointless feature, this is it.

You're doing it wrong OP. What you're supposed to do is stream from your desktop to your massive TV. That's even what the little icon representing the feature shows.

Way better :) There is some latency but it's not that much. I wouldn't pvp, but any pve is fine. Even the undine battle zone is good. It's also totally free :)

yeah...that's why I said the possibilities of this are amazing in my OP. People are reporting that any program opened through steam is working, like photoshop. I can see this technology being used in a lot of ways outside of gaming.

That's the thing. One can hook up a laptop to any flat screen tv or lcd projector or whatever. I also like that I can play STO and take advantage of the nice weather (currently) on my back patio :) I also have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, so that helps :)

I am happy for you mate, if I had the setup I'd be doing the same.

Perhaps a video of it in action would be in order, so all of us who cannot do it can sit here in envy of you ;) lol

I genuinely don't get it. If you have a good computer, why streaming it to a crappy laptop, and not play from the good computer in the first place ? And if you are not at home, does that mean you are running your computer and sto all the time until you get back home ?

If the amazing possibilities are related to the electricity bill, then I can see that. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.

You don't have to stream to a laptop. That's what the OP's doing, because that's what he wants to do, but you can use it to stream to a larger screen, or a more comfortable location, or hijack the TV if there's nobody using it, or stream something that's better with a touchscreen to something that has a touchscreen...lots of things.

Now they need an app for my smart TV. I'd settle for a PS3 app to display it on my TV.
