Looking for reliable source of Custom Alien BOFFs

tilartatilarta Member Posts: 1,802 Arc User
I'm a fan of using the Custom Alien BOFFs to create a myriad of concepts and unique species just for my own personal amusement.

I had a particular idea I wanted to experiment with, so went looking for an appropriate BOFF on the Exchange.

I did not find what I was looking for.

And based on this singular failure, I shudder to think what would happen if I attempt to create an entire crew of CA BOFFs, all three classes, both genders. :(

Are CA BOFFs so rare that decent ones are not available?

And is there somewhere I can find decent CA BOFFs?
I'm looking for purples, because I doubt greens and whites will have the traits I am seeking.
Haven't researched if blues will have it yet.

Unfortunately, I think this will be another RNG stuff u, as I've rarely seen CA recruitment missions and the odds of getting the trait I am seeking are very low.

And no, I am not seeking Efficient! :P

Aliens are random. Exchange has the biggest abundance of them.

Only other thing you could do is level another toon and hope for an alien.
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

there is a tiny chance of seeing in your personal Doff mission list an assignment for recruiting Alien Boffs.

The exchange is your best bet. You've got all of the aliens that everybody has up for sale. Yes, they are RNG rewards. If you want a specific trait, or (god help you) a set of specific traits on one officer, then you might be in for a long wait (Although it might be helpful if you told us which trait you're after; some traits aren't available on Aliens).

Just search for "alien eng" "alien tac" and "alien sci" in the Boff tab of the exchange for best results, with or without a quality filter if you desire. (Because if you search for just "alien" you get over 400 results, which might cut out the result you want!)

I've had it 2 or 3 times in the last week. Discarded all of 'em and kept the recruitment cxp. :P

At a guess, they're all being used for Fedside Orion chicks and KDFside human chicks. :P

also, cardassians and romulans, i know i have both.

and to answer OP question, i think the mission where you steal a b'rel FED-side gives as one of the rewards a rare alien woman engineer boff.

which is why rare alien engineers are so cheap at the exchange.

Well i just bought my ALIEN BOFFs in the BOFF shop... 260? dilithium each then i go to next NPC and train them the abilities they need...

even though i wish i could have purple aliens... but maybe i just wait and hope to get my hands on a cheap exchange offer some time in the future.

My bigger issue is that i cannot delete Thovan... he does not fit into my crew and i am missing a crew slot... if i can delete him i can use another ship.. but like this.. i cant...

I'm on my 3rd Starfleet character now.
And no custom aliens were recieved, especially one with the trait I am seeking.
So this solution isn't a good idea.
I end up with everything but Custom Alien!

The trait I am seeking is Superior Peak Health.
Preferably without Aggressive or something else that increases threat generation.

Please don't derail this topic by talking about Tovan Skev.

I thought I might have seen an SPH earlier.

-edit- I see several but they all seem to have Aggressive. And one with 2x Superior Cold Dwelling. Woah I don't think I've ever seen a boff double up on one trait before.

There are definitely Alien Boffs en mass in exchange. I put 2 up myself just yesterday that are not sold. And they are not even expensive.

There are also the white ones for a really small dillithium fee (already mentioned above).

If you want some with a particular trait that may become difficult, but I don't know any Aliens with any trait worth mentioning anyway. Given the number of Alien Boffs in exchange I'd guess its either there or it doesnt exist.

Only real problem is the lack of any "Romulan" alien boffs= Alien Boffs that can wear the awesome romulan uniform. Haven't found any yet, guess they don't exist.

Also how much are you willing to pay for such a boff? Given its rarity it might be expensive.

Finding boffs with specific traits is nearly impossible (with the exception of traits that are guaranteed to appear for certain species) because it isn't possible to search them by traits.

Boff ground traits are also largely irrelevant.

I suggest you ignore the traits and just get an Alien of the class and gender you need. Save yourself the trouble of looking through pages after pages of descriptions looking for some trait that doesn't do anything worthwhile.

Just for giggles, I thought I'd look for Superior Peak Health myself.
If you don't mind Aggressive trait after all, you won't be too hard pressed if you just type ALIEN into the top, choose Very Rare and Bridge Officers.
If you really want them without any form of Agressive trait, you will need a bit of EC...
I've found and Alien Engineer and Alien Tac both for 5million EC each and an Alien Sci for 6,666,666EC. All with Superior Peak Health and no form of Agressive trait at all.
So now all you have to do is scroll through to the price of 5million+ and you'll find them.
    Best of luck.
