Game Takes FOREVER to start

While I can play the game no problem, my PC far surpasses the minimum requirements, falling just short of the recommended requirements.

I can play at maximum settings quite well. However while starting the game, I have to wait anywhere from a half hour to two hours for the game to tell me that the log in failed, the login screen ingame, I mean.

The launcher works fine, and I can log in just fine, but once past the Cryptic loading screen the game freezes, and like I said it takes anywhere from a half hour to 2 hours for me to be able to even log in to the game a second time from in game client.

After logging in while on the game client I can play just fine, but as I said it takes forever to actually USE the game client period.

    I'm going to jump out on a limb and say that a large number of the people that post in these forums are not playing STO.

    There is clearly a problem with the launcher today. Several posts on here (including many I've responded to) indicate that the launcher is failing to authenticate.

    It would be great if cryptic would post a comment but as they have sense, they probably stay as far away from these forums as possible.

    Glad you got in. I got in for a few seconds and then poof out I went kicked by the server.

    I've only seen 6 or 7 posts today about launcher issues in this forum not including this thread and considering I've had no problems myself today with the launcher it's more of an isolated issue (and yes, I do play sto and have since it was in beta).

    When you're having issues like this you should always do what the sticky thread in this forum suggests which is run a trace route and net stat to see where the issues are and if there is any common issue. These things help narrow down what could be the cause instead of just having to guess randomly.

    Im guessing your isp isnt routing your traffic through cogentco.com right?
