I have never played a Foundry mission? I have some questions.
1. The important question first I guess, are they any good. Will I have fun playing these.
2. Any suggestions, I like good battles but I prefer a good story first.
3. Can I play them on my Klingon and Fed.
There are more questions of course but, I figured these were the important ones. If theres anything else I should know please tell me. I have played the PVE part of sto untill im bored of it. I need something fresh. Please help me out here. Ty for your time.
2: Start with the Foundry Spotlight list on the website.
3: Generally, but they are usually written from a specific Faction viewpoint, so a KDF mission might not make much sense to a Fed character. The mission will tell you in its description.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
1. There are some very good amazing missions in there. There are some amazingly bad ones too.
2. To start with, check out the "Spotlight" tab when you go to the Foundry listing. You can then browse through the endless grind farms to find some story missions. Why they don't let us filter those out, I have no idea.
3. You sure can. Feds and KDF have different missions though, just like how the normal story missions work.
Just be very, very patient with the Foundry. There are a whole lot of bugs that authors simply cannot fix. Sometimes my away team will fall through the ground. Other times they get stuck in stupid places and can't move. Sometimes NPCs won't spawn. Sometimes objective markers are in all the wrong places. Don't get mad at the Foundry authors for this, they can't do anything about it. It's a problem with the Foundry itself. Also realize that the Foundry is not an easy tool to work with. Authors have to do all kinds of work arounds to get it to do what they want. Be far more lenient with them and don't get upset when things don't work.
Otherwise, have fun. People make some really great stuff in there.
With the Foundry tools can I make a mission exactly llike the ones in sto. I have some great Ideas but if the tools are handicaped why bother?
There is a whole section of the forum devoted to that discussion.

Unfortunately, we do not get access to all of the cool toys that the devs have. That being said, there are great Foundry projects out there that had to have some tweaking and work-arounds to make some cool effects and such.

1. As with anything made by humans, professional or amateur, the quality will run the spectrum from brilliant to dismal. The best advantage the Foundry has is variety, there are tens of thousands of missions to choose from. If you find the kind of mission you want to play, then yes you will have fun.
2. As suggested above the spotlight section is a good place to start. I encourage you to branch out as well as there are thousands of excellent missions that aren't spotlighted. Scroll down and have a look at the Foundry mission forum, where people announce their new missions. We also keep a list, though it is by no means comprehensive, of great missions: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=286621
3. You can indeed play missions as both Federation and KDF. The lists are kept separate. When you're on your Federation character you will not see missions written for the KDF, and vice versa. Currently there is no mechanism for making missions that only Romulan Republic characters can play. RR characters have access to the Foundry missions of their chosen ally. Several of us have made missions geared toward Romulans, however, that list is here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1083481

1) It's all up to you on this one. Some are regarded to be really good, and some not so much.
2) Some Foundry stories do tend to tell you if it's more story than all about the action. But with this, I'd say stick to the Featured Foundry missions, since they are more about story than the action.

Those are usually made by the ******* that Cryptic and the Podcasts promotes as a freind gift.
I am not saying they aren't good, but unfortunately there are alot of really good ones that get ignored because they don't have authors that kiss ...
