Who Wants Playable Cardassians?

sle1989sle1989 Member Posts: 552 Arc User
Me.

Seriously, Cardassians are the only major Star Trek race that aren't playable in this game (Unless you count the Jem'Hadar, but they are designed cannon fodder). They should be in the Cstore and once bought available for all factions too use.

I say that Cardassia should just join the Federation outright (Yes, controversial, but they are already protectorates), that would explain Cardassians in Starfleet, but what about the other two? Well, KDF Cardassians could be those who didn't want to join the Federation and seek asylum in the Empire. Republic Cardassians could be those who saw kindred spirits in the Romulans who lost their home and help them too rebuild (Or the asking for asylum excuse works here too).

Cardassia joining the Federation is a big deal so there should be a Feature Episode that deals with them joining as

They shouldn't be their own faction because of the fact that in the Path to 2409 they are stated to be dependent on the Federation for protection. Starfleet is keeping their infrastructure intact.

Just saying what we want really does no good... everyone knows already that a lot of people want playable Cardassians. If they come, they'll come when PWE wants them to.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Well the good news is ... you already have all the Costume Options to make an decent looking Cardie ...

The Bad News ... I don't think Cryptic is interested in making C-Store Species anymore, guess they don't sell that good ... the last ones were Ferasans over 2 years ago ... (and we're still missing that new Species Romulans were supposed to get)

If there is going to be Cardies, I'm pretty sure it's going to be another Mini-Faction ... and probably not "Soon" ...

Making a cardassian a playable character type like a joined trill is one thing, but I can't see too many cardassian joining the Klingon empire. A separate faction like the romulans, or a cardassian for the fed, and a similar race for the KDF might work better.

people said that about romulans joining the Klingons and people said that about romulans joining the federation. we all know what happened despite being life long enemies. so if they was added to the game you can bet you will see cardies running around on Qo'nos

    He's right

Give the Cardassians to the Federation.

Give the Kazons to the KDF. After all, they deserve nothing less.

    <--- Right there!

I would love a true playable Cardassian. I can see them added to the Federation if they are not being made into a faction. As for the notion of the Kazon joining the KDF.....I laugh. I really can not see the KDF accepting the Kazon into their fold.

Gak! Kazon are just wanna be Klingons with even worse hair days.. noppity nope.. they can stay in the delta quadrant... even the Borg didnt want to assimilate them! The Hirogen would have made a nice addition tho..

To be honest i don't see what adding Cardassians as a player faction would add to STO so i don't want playable Cardassians.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

You can add playable Cardassians to the game without adding a Cardassian faction.

Exactly. A playable cardassian will be nice, but a cardassian faction.. what the hell... lol. I wonder if someday we will stop reading this stuff. Its really annoying lol.

New playable races are usually held back for expansions. After all, PWE need something to market new expansions with.

I'm not really interested in Cardassians. I could see the species added as an option for players, but not a faction.

Back when the game was still under perpetual development, Cardassians were planned as a fed playable race.
Maybe add them like the joined Trill, a cross faction playable race. Even if I don't see why they would join the KDF, with so much bad blood between them.

    *raises hand*

I've wanted a playable Cardassian faction ever since I found out about STO. I'm prepared to invest a lot in that faction. Like buy everything. :o
I have a boxed Galor sitting around in my account back because I love the ship, but can't bare myself to make an "alien Cardassian", just doesn't cut it for me. I wan't a real Cardassian.

Shoehorning the Cardassians into the Federation? No, just no....stop there. It serves nothing other than taking out diversity from the Star Trek universe to satisfy the whims of people that want to have everything in STO, but never leave the comfort zone of playing a Fed. The whole "Cardassia is a Federation protectorate" is BS and I do expect them to fix and partially retcon it when a Cardassian faction ala the Romulan Republic comes, and it will come. There's just no way in frozen Gre'thor that Starfleet has enough resources to cover and protect the vast expanse that is the Cardassian domain, realistically speaking. This is another example of early bad writing in STO and I do expect it to be fixed in a following update.

Let's face it - Cardassians deserve to fend for themselves, in a faction of their own. And what is a playable Cardassian without the legendary Elim Garak voiced over by mr.Andrew Robinson working for their own interest? Either make them a faction or leave them as an NPC faction.

    Androids are restricted by CBS.

Even Borg are already in the game if you count "Liberated Borg", and other Borg are not "playable" per se ...

+ we already have Android Boffs

You can make him from an Alien. :)

And I am certain a Cardassian Micro-Faction will come in Expansion Pack 3.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I doubt it. Not enough stuff to do cardassians and frankly next race is probably coming out of the Delta quadrant since that is the way the game is going.

That is where the game is going for the upcoming Expansion Pack. Where the game is going the year after that is anyone's guess. :)

Faction expansions are easy to monetize. That makes a 4th Micro-Faction quite possible - and the Cardassians have a huge following.

I am kinda getting tired of the Dominion with Cardassians argument. The Cardassians turned their backs on the Dominion when the Dominion held their home world hostage. I can not see the two working together again for a very long time.

The Dominion would be considered an "evil" species, and thus not playable due to CBS' restrictions. They are also near-equivalent to the Iconians in power and status - it took an alliance of the Federation, KDF, and Romulan Empire to drive-back even a partial invasion force.

The Cadassians, on the other hand, are in dire straights. They are dealing with the Mirror Universe and True Way. They are in the same position the Romulan Republic was in: surrounded by enemies and needing help. That makes them the perfect candidate to fit into STO's Micro-Faction alliance system.
