I just bought the Vesta pack - great ship - but she and all other science ships are gimped from not having a wide selection of Aux based weapons.
The Vesta can have 3 cannons in the front - but any other energy weapons in the rear is useless.
The same goes for all other science ships - they are greatly held back without Aux power based weapons.
Your science powers are not enough to do any real damage to NPC's - you need energy weapons to be competitive in PVE - but you need weapons power which nerfs your science abilities.
I think Cryptic needs to release a full spread(all weapon types- beams/cannons - etc) of dilithium store Aux based weapons in all energy types(phaser/disruptor/plasma/AP - etc).
Because then, it will not make sense anymore to pilot an escort or a cruiser... lol.
Science ships are that, skills based on science stuff. If you add weapons that can be used using aux power to maximize their damage, science ships will be op. Too much science skills plus weapons dealing high ammount of damage.. nah, dont think so.
Weapons in the aft useless?? well, you must be doing something really really wrong.
Science powers not enough to deal damage to npc's?? o.O, as i said, you must be doing something really wrong with your build.
The Vesta is actually one of the best science ships not only because it is one of the best "science" ships out there, but because it can also act like a high damage dealer. Of course not close like a good escort, but enough to hurt anything using science skills or just regular weapons. I tell u, you must be doing something wrong. Using the aux cannons plus a great managin of the weapons power you can be piloting an amazing all around ship.

Maybe I'm wron,g but I think you are missing the point. Why use Aux? So you can maintain high Aux power levels when deploying exitic damage (GW, Tykon...), while obtaining the procs and placing dots using your aux powered beam weapon. Now try putting torps into your remaining 2 slots.
A copy & paste of my reply on one of these very similar threads from a week ago.
A full array of Aux Weapons while maxing the living hell out of Aux Power and Shield Power, while STILL keeping your energy weapons at +100% performance (because they are based on Aux Power and can be capped to more than 125, unlike Weapons Power) is OP.
You will be flying with high powered weapons while your shield, repair, resist abilities will be performing at outrageous levels.
How is that not imbalanced?
The narrow-arc Aux Cannons at least forces the Vesta user to make some sort of concession in playstyle to accomodate the arcs. But full Beam Arrays or even Dual Beams, or other Aux Weapons of different types is completely OP.
To add onto this, TAC Cruisers, Escorts, or whatever ship & build that focuses on Energy Weapons, puts #1 power emphasis to Weapons. Weapons Power is capped to 125. Usually, Shields gets the #2 priority. Then it's a scrap between Engines or Aux to get the leftovers, usually boosted (if at all) by Batteries. The weapons heavy setup has to make concessions. Usually the emphasis on Weapons and Shields is most important. The much lower Aux Power is a concession that has to be made. So what the builds usually get is a very strong, hard hitting build with good shielding, supported by mediocre Engine Power, Aux Power, as well as the corresponding abilities feeding on such low levels of that power. Weaker ASIF, HE, etc.
Aux Weapons, esp. those asking for a full option set of Aux Weapons, completely, irrevocably BREAK this balance. You can get a higher cap on Aux Power with many different means while none exists for Weapons Power. Your Aux Weapons will feed off this higher cap. And as I mentioned, you're going probably a high Aux & Shield Power setting, as #1 & #2 priorities with Engines 3rd. What you then get is:
- Ridiculous energy weapon strength
- At the same time, the best shield, resist, healing abilities running at top or near top performance.
More Aux Power weapons would be a huge, bone-headed move.
The true reason, (based on a hunch:P) that there are no more "aux" weapons.
They are an exclusive gimmick to the vesta, thus dev development to monetary gain could/would be too low. Thus they let the dust settle and think about the next ship/gear to be developed.

My PvE/PvP hybrid skill tree
But at least they should give us the option of AUX turrets to round out the design
LOL, more useless weapons?? no, please..
