The one in the spacedock should be using complete Tempest parts and the 2409 material (I forget what number that is).

There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.
The nacelles on the one on display are much further forward, and the saucer is slimmer without the front notches present on some of the skinnable options
Uhm.......*scratches head*......what??
They're the same, except for lighting. I'm seriously not seing whatever you're seing. I think the size/perception and/or lighting are playing games on your eyes.

Basic design is the same, the environmental lighting is different. The nacelles and deflector are a little different, this will change depending on the "skin" color that you use.
I'm not online so I cannot tell you the right name for the "skin" but there are 7 or 8 different numbers to give the hull (and nacelles and deflector) a different sahde/color.

The one floating in the shipyard just looks like Type 6 Tempest, looks like they lightened the black pattern on the saucer slightly to a gray, and turned off the pattern on the center hull. Other than that it's just lighting.
Other than lighting and some difference in the black areas, they look the same. The placement of the necelles are even the same, just top one appears further forwared due to the perspective, the lower image is rotated more to starboard the the top one and the perspective is above looking lightly down on yours rather than being almost directly sidelong in the top one.

It is exactly the same ship and model, it is your perception and also the difference in shading and coloring scheme, with the big factor being lighting.
The key thing is the angle of the shipyard vessel, which is meant to solely be a prop.

Are you sure you have the Tempest skin?

The pylons look different too
Top image, ship on display in ESD
Bottom Image, a full, unaltered "tempest" skin
Regardless of options I try, I cant get my ship to look like the top one

There are FOUR lights
Cryptic did that old glamour photo trick of putting a smidge of Vaseline on the lens to soften the edges. Lol!
Also maybe they are using window option #3 the yellowish ones. At least that's how it looks on my cheesey monitor.
Edit to add:
Maybe try the old looking material, what is it? #3??. It's the only one I know that has a sort of warm burnished feel I get from the shipyard photo

You're wrong, there are no lights. They're all in your head.
